Charlie's POV

"Charlie dear who is this handsome young man." My mother said breaking the silence after a few seconds of us just staring. A blush crept it's way onto my skin before I turned towards her.

"Ma this is Jacob. He goes to my school." I said with a small smile playing with her fingers gently. My mother smiled over at him. Her bright smile made the corners of his lips twitch slightly but they still remained in a straight line.

"Nice to meet you Jacob." My mother said with her normal dashing smile.

"Nice to meet you too Mrs. Mack." He said quietly.

"Oh don't call me that dear! It makes me sound old. Call me Mama Mack." She said with a huge smile, causing me to blush.

"Charlie can I talk to you outside." Jacob said quietly. I nodded before turning back to my mother who looked at her chicken noodle soup as if it were a male model.

"I'll be right back mama. Do you need anything from the cafeteria?" I asked taking her hand once again. Her gaze moved towards me.

"Can I have some vanilla frozen yogurt. That sounds really good." She said setting her soup down. I nodded at her and leaned up then kissed her forehead.

Jacob and I walked down the hallway to the elevator in silence. As soon as we were in the elevator he turned towards me.

"How did you know I was here?" I asked him as the doors to the elevator opened. I exited it before he even got the chance to reply. I moved slowly so he easily caught up.

"I was here and I heard your laugh. I walked by and saw a picture frame of you and your mother on the door. I asked the nurse who was next to it if you were in there." He explained quietly. I nodded and continued my journey to the cafeteria.

"Why were you here?" I asked. Instead of a reply I was met with silence. With a small sigh I walked into the cafeteria with a smile.

Gloria, my favorite worker was in at the cash register. As soon as she saw me a smile grew on her face. Gloria is in her mid 50's but through all of what has been happening she has been there for me. She was my person to talk to when it had come to my mother.

"Hey Charlie! The usual for your mother?" She asked. I nodded and leaned back against the wall.

"Do you come here often?" He asked not taking his gaze off me, while my gaze was on Gloria.

"Yes." I replied shortly. If he isn't willing to tell me stuff about him then why should he get to know about me.

"How long has she been sick?" He asked yet another question.

"A decent amount of time." I said, once again shortly. He grunted as I moved away from the wall and towards Gloria who held the frozen yogurt.

I smiled and paid for it before walking out of the cafeteria, not even caring if he was following behind me. Due to the sound of footsteps I knew he was following.

Just so I did not have to deal with being in a small space with him I chose the stairs. I heard a loud sigh behind me before the sound of footsteps got louder.

"Are you actually playing the silent game." He said pushing me up against the railing. His dark silver blue eyes looked down at me.

"Hate the game, not the player." I said before pushing past him and going up the stairs some more. I got up about five steps before I was once again pushed up against the railing.

The normal eyes I was expecting to look back at were not there. Instead his eyes were almost black. There was no emotion in them except coldness. This is not the Jacob that was at my house two nights ago. This guys is different.

"Don't ever walk away from me got it." He basically growled out. His voice was harsh, scary. My body went cold. I was scared. I was scared of Jacob. I have heard of all the bad things he has done to people yet I pushed the limits with him. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

I was waiting for a punch, a kick, a slap, even a gun shot happen. Yet it never came. Although I was beyond scared. Almost as if he had sensed my fear, his eyes softened. A look of regret almost flashed through his eyes, or at least I think it was regret.

"Did you think I was going to hurt you?" He said slightly shocked. I looked up at him, my lip quivering slightly. All anger in his eyes had banished. It was replaced with a soft glance.

Without a second thought Jacob pulled me to his chest. He tensed up at the contact even though it was him who caused it, but relaxed soon. My arms instantly encircled around his small yet very muscular waist.

This is the first time he had hugged me. Heck this is the first time I have ever seen him hug anyone. Everyone says he is this emotionless jerk who only cares about himself, yet here he is. Hugging me. The invisible nerd from his English class.

"I will never hurt you mein unschuldiger engel (Translation: My innocent Angel)." He said resting his head on top of mine. Let me tell you, I know that was German, and I may have no idea what the heck he even said but that was hot.

"You speak German?" I asked looking up at him through my eyelashes.

"I do. Did you know what I said?" He asked. I shook my head and continued to look up at him. The corners of his lips twitched again, a smile trying to itch its way onto his face.

"I didn't know that you spoke another language." I spoke raising an eyebrow at him.

"There is a lot you don't know about me." He said before pulling back and leading me up the stairs and to my mothers room.
