OVER THE NEXT few days, another small stretch of peace fell over the city. Nathaniel affectionately called it the calm before the storm. He knew that it would not last long and something a lot worse than what they already faced was about to happen.
Near five or so the next morning, Nathaniel decided that enough was enough. He was never going to be able to drift off, and he was beyond hungry.
Nathaniel slipped a grey cardigan over his tank-top and a pair of leather house shoes, before he exited Klaus's bedroom and made his way to the blood stash in the study. He came to a stop when he found several individuals inside the room, talking amongst themselves in what seemed to be a heated discussion. Klaus, Freya, and Elijah stood near each other with an unfamiliar man across from them. Nathaniel stopped just inside the threshold of the room, immediately capturing their attention.
Klaus smiled when he noticed him. "This is Nathaniel, original vampire/witch and father of my child," he said, introducing him to the mystery man.
Nathaniel pulled his cardigan tighter around his body as he stared at the tall, dark haired stranger. "Your first child, by the way," he exclaimed to the hybrid, before he turned to the other man. "And you are?"
He pressed his lips together. "Stefan Salvatore."
Nathaniel sighed heavily, recognizing the name. "Of course you are," as he is moving over to the lone couch in the room to drop down onto the cushions. "So, what's going on here?"
Klaus reached out and patted the Salvatore man on the back. "Stefan needs a favor."
Freya's eyes narrowed toward him. "You're an old 'friend', are you?"
Stefan shrugged, appearing a bit awkward. "Well -that kind of depends on your definition," he said, smiling nervously at the scowling witch.

Klaus and Elijah soon left the room, leaving Stefan alone with Nathaniel and Freya. The witch sat next to the original on the couch, while the young vampire sat on the chair in front of them. Freya reluctantly agreed to help, unbuttoning the man's shirt to examine the strange X shaped wound on his chest.Nathaniel heard about the man's predicament from Klaus the day before. Stefan got into a bit of trouble with a hunter by the name of Rayna Cruz. She stabbed him with her infamous Phoenix Sword, which gave her the ability to find her targets with a single scratch. Nathaniel learned about the woman over the centuries. Although, he could have sworn the woman had been locked up years ago.
Freya looked close at the wound that failed to heal, even with the man's supernatural healing. She did not seem entirely sold on helping him, considering they had their own problems to deal with.
"So -um -just full disclosure -I dated your sister once," Stefan voiced as he shifted in his seat.
"It's true. What a year in Chicago." Nathaniel said with a smile as he looked at Stefan's confused face.
Freya rolled her eyes with a light chuckle. "Oh. While that seems like a great story, let's get back to you wound," she told him, leaning away to speak. "A mystical vampire huntress stabbed you with her magic sword. Klaus killed her -but, surprise, surprise..." she trailed off, standing to gather her ingredients to help him.
"...she regenerates," Stefan finished for her.
"And she won't stop until you're dead," Nathaniel added, pulling his legs up to rest underneath him.
