A DAY PASSED since the death of Cami O'Connell.

In that time, Nathaniel hardly ever left the four walls of his and Klaus's bedroom. One thing after another weighed on his mind. From Cami to Lucien to his son. Nathaniel needed to take a few minutes for himself.

Nathaniel wanted to help with the chaos. He really did, but there was only so much he could do. Whatever Lucien had become surpassed that of an Original vampire. He would have a chance with him but his bite could kill him.

Sunlight streamed through the uncovered window in the bedroom. Nathaniel laid under the blankets, trying his hardest to sleep when he had the chance. Andrew snoozed away across the room in his crib with no indication he wanted to get up. He slept right on through the night and only cried when he was hungry. An amazing son, as always.

Nathaniel fluffed the pillow under his head so he could see where Klaus stood in front of the window. He had not said much after Cami died. He knew that the two of them had been close. The best of friends. They knew each other better than Klaus and his siblings. Nathaniel was devastated because of her death, but Klaus had to be completely crushed.

Right before Nathaniel's lips parted to speak, Hayley strode into the room. She held what appeared to be a journal in her hands as she approached Klaus.

"Did you bring it?" Klaus questioned, turning to face her.

Hayley nodded and offered him the journal. "Jack wrote down everything your father told him about the ancient werewolves. I've read it. I don't think there's anything in there that's gonna help us kill Lucien, though."

"I'll see for myself." Klaus took the book. "You can go."

Hayley went to leave, but she turned back to the hybrid. "Klaus, I think we should do something about the body -about Cami. I know that she wanted an Irish wake. I can -I can make the arrangements."

Nathaniel closed his eyes and shoved his face into the pillow. Cami's body remained in guest room where she died. No one knew what to do with her yet, considering they were still holed up in the compound because of Lucien. On top of that, they were too distraught to do anything in the following hours.

Klaus whirled to the Marshall woman and raised his voice, "It doesn't matter what she wanted!" He fell quiet when his gaze flickered to the bed and then to Andrew's crib. He said in a lower volume, "She's gone. There's no time to sing dirges. We're at war."

Hayley sighed. "Yeah -okay." Her heels clicked against the floor as she left the room.

After a few moments, Nathaniel opened his eyes and lifted his head from the pillow. Klaus did not move from his spot and ran a hand over his face.

He released a long breath, shifting his gaze back to the bed. His expression softened when he noticed Nathaniel awake. "I didn't mean to wake you my love," he apologized.

Nathaniel shook his head and pushed himself up to rest against the headboard. "You didn't. I couldn't sleep."

"If you are worried about Andrew, I will get him if he wakes," Klaus told him.

"That's not it," Nathaniel said, setting his head to the wooden piece behind him.

Klaus's eyes narrowed and moved over to sit on the edge of the bed. "Then what is it?"
