Chapter 12

Friday March 26

"Emmie!!" A childish voice squealed before tiny footsteps could be heard running across the carpeted floor then... bang!

"Oomph" left Ryder's lips as the young boy had landed on top of him squished me in the process.

Opening my eyes I came face to face with familiar honey brown eyes, eyes that were so familiar to the older goofball boy that I know.

"Matty!" I squealed pushing a groaning Ryder off of me and tackling the younger boy onto the bed, his laughter echoing through the room.

Digging my fingers into his sides I began to tickle him and he squirmed under me.

"Thanks Mat and oh thank you very much Bell for pushing me off you like I was a hot piece of coal." Ryder said but I paid him no attention as I continued my attack on the younger boy, I haven't seen Mathew in four years not since the fight between Ryder and I.

"Emmie st-stop!" He giggled. I could see Ryder from the corner of my eye roll his eyes as he leaned back against the head board an amused look on his face.

"What is going on in here?" A motherly voice said from the doorway my hands freezing their attack on the little boy.

"Mommy Emmie is attacking me!" He squealed as he tried to catch his breath as he noticed that my tickle attack had ceased.

"Oh is she, why would she be tickling you Matty?" She said and I could tell there was a grin on her face by the tone of her voice. Matty's brown eyes looked up at me with innocence and admiration gazing away from the little boy I looked up into the motherly eyes I missed since my mother had passed away.

"Hello darling" She said as she made her way towards me, slowly I climbed off the protesting boys and hushed into the arms of the woman I thought as another mother. Her and Ryder's mom were like mother's to me they treated me like I was their own daughter, I clung to her trying to hold in the happy tears. When we stopped being friends I had also pushed away two of the most important people in my life and I had stopped coming by.

"Hi Mrs. Marshall" I mumbled into her shoulder.

"Momma bring Emmie back to me please!" A voice yelled from behind us, releasing each other from the hug I turned around to see a pouty-faced boy sitting with a frown on his face and his arms crossed.

"Mom!" A scream shattered the moment when Jace's loud obnoxious scream traveled up the stairs and then soon his footsteps could be heard racing up the steps.

"What Jace?" His mother asked, I turned around to see a panic looking Jace slide into the room and take in the situation before him with a raised eyebrow.

"Th-there was this outside" He said before pulling out a brown large envelope from behind his back, before he could hand it to his mother I noticed Ryder leap form the bed and rush past me. He grabbed the envelope before Mrs. Marshall could grab it and took off past a wide-eyed Jace who turned to stare at his best friend who took off somewhere- probably down stairs.

"What the?" Jace said, as he looked confused and bewildered.

"What was that all about?" Mrs. Marshall asked her face was full of confusion as she looked between her son and me. I took a few steps back and landed on the bed next to the still squirming boy who climbed into my lap.

"Well mom you see-"

A loud "Fuck!" Echoed through the house as quick as the word started I clamped my hands over the little boy's ears that sat on my lap, I know he isn't that young but that word should never reach young ears. That one word cut off Jace as he went to tell his mom what was going on, soon angry steps could be heard among the silence as they trampled up the stairs. A seething Ryder stood in the doorway, his eyes almost pitch black the blue so dark it was midnight blue.
