-+*+- Peter -+*+-
Tony and Peter wrapped up whatever project they were working on so they could grab lunch upstairs. Tony though, left out one tiny little detail. They were going to have lunch with the rest of the Avengers.
Peter walked into the kitchen oblivious of what was to come. That was short-lived.
"Wait so let me get this straight," a new voice spoke up, "Tony's bringing a kid up here?"
Peter furrowed his eyebrows and looked up at Tony. They weren't that far from the kitchen and the voice was talking pretty loud, not to mention he had super hearing.
"Yes, he's Tony's new personal intern so be nice."
That voice he recognized to be Natasha's. It only took him a couple of seconds before realizing what was going on. He did a double-take and Tony started laughing.
They reached the kitchen and lo and behold, there were the Avengers.
Steve, Natasha, Bruce, Bucky (civil war who?), Vision, Wanda, and Clint were all seated at the long dinner table except Clint, who was setting up plates of food. Sam and Rhodey were away from the tower along with Scott so they had some extra room at the long table.
The room was full of chatter as the Avengers conversed among themselves. Wanda was teasing Vision and Steve was talking about their life before the ice with Bucky. Natasha kept mostly to herself, but talked a little with Clint while he was getting things set up.
As soon as Peter and Tony walked in, the room went silent. Peter gave an awkward wave and tried to introduce himself.
"H-Hi, I'm Peter Parker... Mr. Stark's intern."
Nobody said anything for what seemed like hours (It was just 4 seconds) before Steve spoke up.
"Nice to meet you kid, I'm Steve. How'd you get that nasty eye?" He asked.
"I-um, I fell on the way home yesterday," Peter mumbled in response.
The rest of the group shrugged off his awkwardness and began introducing themselves while Tony stood beside Peter grinning like a proud dad.
They both pulled out chairs and sat down at the expensive dining table.
"So tell us a little about yourself Peter," Natasha requested.
Peter thought for a minute before answering.
"I'm 16, I go to Midtown High, I'm a part of my school's decathlon team, and I live with my Aunt."
"Do you have parents?" Clint spoke up as soon as he sat down after finishing setting the table.
Peter's eyes darkened a bit and Tony intervened.
"What kind of question is that?" Tony spat defensively.
"It's okay Mr. Stark. I'm here to get to know them right? It's only fair that they get to know me too."
Tony looked at the kid worried but let him do what he needed to do.
Peter kept his eyes down on his food but answered the Avenger's question,
"My parents died in a plane crash when I was really little so I don't remember them much," He took a breath and continued, "Then my Uncle Ben died when I was 13, he was shot in a Gas Station robbery trying to protect me. I remember a lot about him. He was like my second chance at having a dad. I miss him a lot but I live with my Aunt now so that's pretty cool I guess."
