The man breathed harshly as he carried his companion out of the harsh rains and into the small cottage. The room was cold and dark as he laid the other man on the table he usually ate dinner at. Small groans escaped the others lips as he was sat on the old oak, aching in pain and incredibly confused as to what was happening. Dark quickly made his way to the fireplace. He reached up on the shelf near it to grab the matches and small wooden box of kindling. He got to work on building the fire.
After a moment, a few flames flickered, eating at the air around it to grow. Dark looked up to see Anti was moving a little, blinking at the sudden light that had filled the room. Dark had managed to patch up the worst of his wounds out on the field, but he was still bleeding badly. Dark stood and laid his palm against Anti's forehead. He was hot to the touch. The man sighed. "You're going to be alright." He whispered to his friend and went back out. The rain had subsided to a soft drizzle, he noticed, as he walked to the well and pulled up a bucket of water. Lightning struck starkly against the cloudy sky, almost as if it were angry and casting revenge on something.
Anti had curled up on his side when Dark came back. He sat the bucket down on the floor and grabbed a kettle, filling it up with the water he had retrieved. Hanging it over the fire to warm, Dark took a rag and drenched it in the water a few times, then rung it out. Anti seemed to let out a silent cry of relief when Dark placed it on his head. "What..." Dark shushed him gently. Anti rolled over onto his back once again and gripped Dark's wrist. "Don't leave..." He pleaded. Dark's heart almost broke at how desperate he sounded and rubbed his companions shoulder. "I'm right here. I'm going to take off your armour and clothes, I need to see how bad your wounds are." Anti's grip lessened until his hand hit the table with a 'thump'. He took off Anti's articles as carefully as he could until he was left in his undergarments. Dark peeled back the gauze he had put on ealier, wincing when Anti whimpered in pain. He threw the bloody cloth into a bin and took another rag to wipe down Anti's lithe frame of dirt and blood. A large burn was on his left arm, while many bruises and cuts adorned Anti's chest. The worst though was a jagged cut across his neck. Luckily it wasn't deep enough to kill, but it would leave a nasty scar. Another was a deep gash along his leg. Dark cleaned the wounds the best he could with warm soapy water. They wouldn't stop gushing blood though. He realized he would have to cauterize them.
He took his pocket knife and set it on the burning coals until the metal was searing hot. He took it from the fire and took it to Anti. The man took off his leather glove and put it to Anti's mouth. "Bite on this." Anti complied and allowed Dark to put the leather into his mouth. He wondered why Dark had done so, until he felt why. A hot pain went along his leg, the slight smell of burning flesh and hair in the air. His teeth clamped down on the glove as he screamed out. Beads of sweat rolled down his face. After the wound had stopped bleeding, Dark laid a large palm on Anti's chest to carefully push him back down to the table. The pain had caused him to arch his back off the table like a cat. Dark exhaled shakily. "You can hit me later all you want for this, but just know it was nessicary." Anti's dry chuckle was muffled by another heart wrenching yell as Dark dragged the hot knife over the wound on his neck. Dark put the knife off to the side and re-dipped the cloth on Anti's head in the water, laying it back across his forehead.
Dark rubbed his shoulders soothingly until Anti had settled down enough to let him rub down his burn wound in a calming salve, the itching pain quickly subsiding after. After cleaning a few more cuts and dressing them, Dark took out many fur blankets and feather stuffed pillows. He laid them on the floor next to the fireplace. He hefted Anti into his arms with a grunt and placed him among the bedding. Anti instantly snuggled into them, letting out a purr. Dark laid another blanket over the pale skin of his body. He stripped of his heavier gear and sat in the rocker, listening to Anti's calmed breathing and watching as his eyes darted underneath his eyelids.
He laid his head against the wood of the chair and exhaled heavily through his nose. Dark felt extremely lucky that he had found Anti when he did. The crazy lad had run into a couple of Fire Arkids. They were both mountain lions with bright orange and blue flames for a mane. Anti had tried to fend them off with his flimsy gold sword, when he should have brought his silver coated steel one. He knew there would be Fire Arkids in the wood, but Dark supposed Anti was heading to the village nearby to sell the sword. Money was sparse now that a war had broke loose. Dark still didn't understand why Anti hadn't brought along another weapon to defend himself.
Dark turned his eyes to Anti again, silently appreciating the golden glow to his skin that the fire provided. His long pointed ears flicked here and there. Dark closed his eyes and willed himself to sleep.

He woke feeling too warm. Dark opened his eyes to see that he had been covered with a large fur blanket. Anti was sitting in front of the fire stirring what appeared to be a stew. Dark sat up and groaned lightly. Anti glanced over to his friend, then back at the pot. "Morning. Did you sleep well?" Dark shrugged and rubbed his bearded jaw sleepily. "Why are you up? You should be resting." Dark scolded lightly. Anti giggled. "I'm fine, you know I heal fast. I'm still sore of course, but it's nothing I can't will myself through." Dark rolled his eyes. Anti put the lid on the pot and stood up with a grunt. He limped over to Dark and took the blanket off of him, then sat on his lap. Dark raised an eyebrow as Anti snuggled into his chest and covered them with the blanket. "What are you doing?" He asked. Anti huffed. "I wanted snuggles, so I'm gonna get snuggles."
Dark smiled and rubbed Anti's back. "If it's going to keep you off your feet, I'll give you all the snuggles you want." Anti grinned and let out a purr of contentment. "You're lovely." He hummed.
