(A.N.: Before we start, I have to say that I really liked this chapter. There's no fluff, I'm afraid, but we get a little better idea about Esmeralda. Enjoy!)

After a little bit, we finally manage to get to the bioship, and I lay Kaldur down on the table near the entrance. I step back when Kid brings the bag full of water, causing him to give me a weird look. I go sit down while Kid and Robin stick the needle into Kaldur's arm, to help rehydrate him once more. I've never been very good with things like needles and that type of healing, and I'm no good around water, so I'm just going to sit this out and stay out of their way.

Artemis walks over to me and sits down next to me, my little friend, the Fennec Fox coming to sit on my lap. "You like Wally." I state, petting the fox's fur once more. Her eyes widen, without me even looking at her, and before she can even deny it, I cut her off. "Don't try to deny it. I can tell you do. I've seen it before, and you're aura's a dead give away. I saw just how much you were trying to hide your blush when you lied about that ninja movie." I state. She sighed. "Alright. Fine. I do... But you better not tell anyone." She warns me. I smirk. "I have no plans to." I tell her, scratching under the fox's chin. He closes his eyes in pleasure.

"Good, because I know exactly why you get that pain in your chest." She states. I look at her. "You do? What is it?" She smirks once again. "You like Aqualad." I stare at her in shock. "W-what?" I stutter. Ugh, curse my stupid stutter. "It's obvious, Emma. You get a pain whenever he mentions the girl that he likes. You tend to stand real close to him compared to the rest of us. Heck, I only recall you ever letting him touch you at all. No one else on this team. Not to mention the fact that you've blushed a few times around him." She tells me. I look down at my little friend as he stares up at me.

"But... But, I'm not supposed to like anyone. I told myself I'd never fall for anyone ever again..." I mutter, but she heard. "Emma... Have, have you fallen for someone else before?" She asks me. I nod. "Once... When I was much younger, I was... How you say, 'crushing' on someone, in my realm. He was nice, good looking, roughly my age; he was a gentleman." I tell her. "But he ended up hurting me in the end, and I don't want that to ever happen again."

She sets a hand on my shoulder, giving it a slight squeeze. "I'm sorry, Emma. You deserve better than that jerk anyways." It's silent for a little bit before she gives my shoulder another squeeze, and gets up to go check on Kaldur, now that the boys are done fixing him up.

'Hey everybody. I've got Superboy. He's back to normal, and we're on our way.' I instantly hear M'gann's voice in my head. I hear a gasp behind me and turn to see Aqualad sitting up, looking confused and scared. "Who are you, and how did you get inside my head?" He asks, as Artemis pushes him to lie back down. 'Hello, Megan. Aqualad's memories! I knew I forgot something.' M'gann states.

'Aw, man. Me, too. I didn't get a souvenir from the mission.' Kid complains. "Should be glad you remembered it in the first place, Kid." I tell him, looking at my new companion. Hopefully, Bat's will let me keep him in the cave. 'Don't worry. Got the souvenir thing covered.' M'gann tells him.

Once they get back to the bioship, M'gann restores Kaldur's memories, and we're on our way home once more, with Kaldur strapped into the table so that he doesn't fall off while he continues to rehydrate, and the fox kit sitting on my lap. There's also a big, metal sphere, which seems to be like a pet, and really likes Superboy. "So what are you going to name him, Esmeralda?" Robin asks.

I look up at him, snapping out of my thoughts and memories. I look back down at this little animal in my lap, staring up at me once more. "Phyrix. I think I'll call him Phyrix." I say.

"Phyrix? Why that name?" Kid asks. "Phyrix, it was my uncle's name." I answer. "And he used to be the only one who could calm me down after a nightmare, or when my anger started to get out of control. He was the one to comfort me the most when I was sad. He guided me when I was lost. I respected him, more than anyone in my family... There's just something about this fox's eyes, something in them, that reminds me of my uncle, and I've never felt more comforted about a reminder of home, than these eyes right here." I say, petting the little kit once more as he licked my other hand.

(A.N.: So, as I said, we get to know Emma a little better. Hey, anyone else get the feeling that this chapter was tense? Or is that just me? Oh, well.)
