Ephesians 4:29
NIV
29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what helps build others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
What we say is important and with this verse, we understand that we shouldn't say just anything. On the many lists of things we shouldn't say, unwholesome talk is one of them. We need to have a filter over our mouths to make sure what we say is good things. When we speak we should speak in love. Love makes us wonder how what we say will affect others.
Before you speak I want you to start reflecting on how your words affect others. Do they build up? Do they encourage? Do they help people?
If your words discourage others and hurt them then you're not speaking in love. There shouldn't be found insults, swear words and mockery in vocabulary
Our words should be to the benefit of those who hear them. It must be for their building up not their building down.
