CHAPTER 40
NARRATIVE

Senior year came quick and is starting in less then a week. I started hanging out with the gang more to take my mind off things and get back into the old loop. But Alexia is no longer part of the group because her and Kairi broke up and Mattia has a new girl named Dakota.

Dakota is pretty chill and we get along pretty well for not being that close. But the changes definitely took a little time to get used to.

"Y'all get your schedules yet?" Dakota questions while playing her Nintendo switch as we all hang out in Mattia's room.

"Yeah and I have a half schedule because I did good on the SAT last year. I get to sleep in thingz." I answer with a chuckle.

"I can't relate, I did alright on it but not that good you know? I have english first period though." Mattia says with an over the top dramatic sigh which causes most of us to roll our eyes.

Alejandro pulls out his phone to probably check what his schedule was before answering, "I have half schedule in the morning too and english last, I heard the teacher is chill though."

"Okay but like can we do something actually fun." Kairi complains with a yawn and I nod because we are seriously so bored that we are talking about our schedules.

We brainstorm ideas of what to do as a group that everyone wants to do. But I swear everyone here is boring and wants to do nothing but sit on they asses.

"Y'all want to play hostage or some?" I finally suggest after getting annoyed with everyone for being boring and saying no to everything.

"I'm down, I mean there is technically enough of us and we have more than one car." Mattia answers with a shrug.

"We only have two girls here so why not make them be the hostages?" Alejandro adds with a smirk before continuing, "I'm guessing Mattia wants to find Dakota versus taking her as hostage."

All of us head outside and into the corresponding cars, I'm riding with Mattia and Kairi who were going to find a place for me.

We finish playing the game and it kind of last a little longer then I had hoped and my parents aren't happy I'm late for dinner. My mom invited Alejandro over for dinner tonight which should be very interesting.

"Sorry we are probably going to have to deal with my mom in a bad mood." I chuckle shaking my head, as we open the door to my house.

"It's okay, food will make it better." Alejandro laughs as the smell of food hits our noses and my mom greets us over to the table.

"Y'all really made us wait this long for you guys to get here, I'm starving and the food is getting cold." Jeremiah complains passing me a harmless glare.

"I've been waiting like 30 minutes, you know how boring it is? And the food is just making fun of me now." Semaj cries jokingly and my step dad rolls his eyes.

My mom drags us to the table and passes the food around the table. "I hope you guys like it even though it's cold." My mom states with a forced laugh.

"So are you two back toget-" my brother Semaj starts asking while with food in his mouth.

"Shut up he is sitting right next to me." I whine as my face gets a little red with embarrassment and I send Semaj a death glare.

"Anyway, are you guys excited for school?" My step dad asks making normal boring dinner small talk.

It goes silent because nobody wants to go first and it makes me laugh out loud, everyone looks at me like I'm crazy. I'm sorry I laugh for no reason when I'm uncomfortable. "I'll go first then I guess," I chuckle before continuing with a shrug, "I guess I'm excited just because it's my last year."

"I just want to see my girlfriend again." Jeremiah chuckles making his father roll his eyes. Jeremiah started dating this girl awhile back but she got grounded or went to camp so they couldn't hangout this summer. My step dad clearly doesn't like the girl though, he called her a hoe when talking to my mom alone.

"When are you going to ask?" Alejandro questions in my ear quietly, talking about this thing the gang wanted to do this weekend.

"Be patient and give me a few." I whisper back with a playful angry face, and Ale nods finishing up his dinner. I finish up my food as well and grab Alejandro's plate and mine to go wash before my mom would force me to.

"Thank you." Alejandro chuckles with a smile as everyone watches me go into the kitchen to wash some dishes.

I used to hate washing dishes because I hated touching the food but now I don't care. And I don't even know when I stopped caring. I hear my mom come in behind me to wash her dishes as well.

"Hey my friends and I are trying to go to this cabin this weekend and I'm wondering if I can go." I state to my mom as I put the dishes in the dish washer.

"Will you be back on Sunday? It's a school night and there better be no funny business while you're there." My mom questions before continuing with her dishes.

"Yes of course mom, we are coming back Sunday at 12." I answer heading back into the dining room where Alejandro's looking at me curiously.

Still not sure what my step dad might say though he's been tired of me for like no reason recently. He literally didn't let me go on a damn jog yesterday morning and I was all in my work out clothes.

"So can you go?" Alejandro asks like one of those little kids asking 'are we there yet?' As the two of us walk over to the living room couch to chill.

"My mom pretty much said yes but I don't know about my step dad." I answer with a shrug and roll my eyes.

The plan is to go to this lake house cabin on Friday through Sunday just to hangout and have fun before school starts. I also some how convinced Kairi to let Alexia come too, but I still don't know really why the two broke up in the first place.

"She always with that damn boy." I hear my step dad say to my mom from the kitchen, probably talking about my plans for this weekend.
