(Y/N)'s POV

"Honey, aren't you getting tired? You've been up for nights waiting for your letter." I turned to look at my mother. "It's alright, Mom. I'm fine. The anticipation is killing me, though." She sighed. "At least try to get some sleep, if it comes while you're sleeping. I'll wake you, okay?" "But Mom, it could almost get here! Isn't it mail day today?" I looked at my mother anxiously.

I had taken the U.A. High entrance exam. I thought I did well enough. I anxiously waited; waiting for my letter to come, rejection or acceptance. I just had to know at this point. I sighed. "I'll go take a midday nap. Please, if it gets here, wake me up?" My mother softly smiled. "Of course, I'll wake you up if it arrives during your nap. Sleep well."

I got up from the couch and walked to my room. I got in and lay in bed. I can't wait to see it. I must have qualified, right? I scored pretty high! I closed my eyes and nodded off to sleep.

"Dear, wake up. Your letter is here." I nudge the hand-shaking me awake away. "Five more minutes, please.." "Alright, I'll open your letter without you." I opened my eyes in shock. "My letter?!" My mother laughed. "Here it is, you should open it. I'm so excited!" She handed me the letter; I stared at it. What if I get rejected.? I shook my head. I opened it and inside was a small disk.

"It's me in a Hologram!" "Eh?! All might? He's with U.A.?" "Now, young (L/N), do not be alarmed. I bring good news! You passed the written exam and the practical exam. That means YOU are now a student at the prestigious UA HIGH!! HAHAHA! I will see you on campus starting next week!" The projection ended. "I did it?!" I turned to look at my mother in excitement. She had tears in her eyes. "I knew you could do it! Oh, I can't wait to tell your father the good news tonight!" I laughed and hugged my mom. I did it!

I walked towards the entrance of my new school. It's even more massive in person. Television doesn't do it justice. "Sorry to disturb you, but your scales are so pretty." I looked in front of me and saw a girl with big round eyes and pretty long green hair. "Oh, hi. Thank you." "My name is Tsuyu Asui. Nice to meet you." I smiled. "My name is (L/N) (F/N), my pronouns are they and them." She placed her finger right under her mouth.

"Your pronouns? Aren't you a girl?" "Oh, not actually." She stared in confusion. "Are you a boy?" I could feel myself getting embarrassed. "I'm non-binary." "I don't understand. Could you explain (L/N)-Kun?" I looked at her worried. "Non-binary is someone whose gender identity isn't exclusively male or female." I waited for some reaction, preparing myself for a negative one mostly. She stayed silent for just a few more seconds.

I saw her give me a closed-eye smile. "I understand. While I get used to it. I'll call you my friend. How does that sound?" I smiled. "That's perfect! Thank you for respecting my boundaries." We heard the first warning bell chime out. "We should get to class. Which course are you enrolled in?" "I'm in the hero course with Mr. Aizawa as homeroom." "How lucky, me too. Let's get going, we shouldn't be late on our first day." I followed behind my new friend to class. It was awkward explaining what non-binary was to them but, I'm grateful they're open-minded and respectful. I hope our other classmates are as well.

"I think we're here." "The door is huge. You think it's heavy?" She slid the door and after just a few seconds it budged. Inside some classmates were already there. "Want to sit together? Kero." I nodded. I followed behind and took a seat to the right. "Everyone sit down, I will be your homeroom teacher, Aizawa. We will be doing a quirk apprehension test once I get everyone checked in." The teacher looked around the room. "You will go to the changing rooms and change into your gym uniforms. After that, you will exit the building towards the outdoor field. Any questions?" No one said anything or raised their hand. "Great. Oh, and whoever scores last place on this test. Gets expelled."

The class was filled with worried gasps and nervous laughter. "You're all dismissed to go get ready. I'll meet you outside." Tsuyu and I walked out nervously to the changing room. I wondered how well I'd do.
