Cassandra was nervous, afraid even, of telling him she had found out about those letters. After all, it was kind of an invasion of privacy. And at the same time, what if they weren't even his after all?
She was pretty sure by the notes he had lent to Jimin that it was his handwriting, but maybe she was wrong after all."Hey," Taehyung said, snapping his fingers in front of her eyes. "Are you okay?"
The girl quickly nodded, coming back to reality and facing his brown eyes.
"So, what did you mean?" he inquired again.
Panicking, she wasn't sure of what to do. He had been a slight weirdo, true, but that didn't mean she wanted to be like him and make him mad. She really didn't know what to do.
"I said," she slowly started, when an idea popped into her head. "I said you can have it for a few days, because I already figured out you must be interested to learn more about astronomy for some reason."He raised an eyebrow and she quickly averted her eyes from him, avoiding his glare. He was still processing her words. His muscles relaxed then and a small smile appeared on his lips. "So you know?"
"Y-yeah, I do," she nodded again, covering up her surprise. Not having expected him to play along. She then grabbed the book out of her backpack, stretching her hand towards him to take it. Which he gladly did. "And don't worry, I won't tell anyone. After all you must have been so secretive for a reason," she joked, "Is it for some project or anything?"
He tilted his head lightly and shrugged. "Is it so obvious that I don't know that much about it?"
She sighed. "Well, it is pretty weird for a guy like you to be interested in the universe, to be honest."
"Oh, and why is that?" he curiously asked, folding his arms in front of his chest. A playful look on his face.Cassandra shrugged. "I don't really know.. you just don't look like the kind of guy I'd imagine talking about supernovae and constellations with your wide and stylish clothes. You look really artsy and cool." She instantly regretted her words though, as they made her sound superficial and stereotyping. Which she honestly wasn't. However, she couldn't help it, that was the truth. He hadn't seemed like the astronomy type to her.
Taehyung laughed out loud, finding her statement quite amusing though. "So are you implying that I don't look nerdy enough to be into astronomy? Because of my artsy and cool look?" he said, tugging at his dark olive green button-down shirt that was open on the top. Allowing his collarbones to slightly peek out of it.She stared at him. Though it wasn't her intention, she had in fact said that, just with other words. Seeing he had left her speechless, he continued. "Well, for your information, I do like astronomy. That's why I chose that topic. However, I prefer getting the info I need from actual books rather than Wikipedia. That's why I needed the book. I wanted to do some research on some topics that I could use in my film project. And this looked like it was the best one to work with."
"And why?" That was a test question. He seemed to be thinking carefully about his next answer and she thought she caught him there, but then he spoke up again. "It focuses on the polar lights and objects of the solar system like the biggest asteroids and satellites. Besides, it also mentions lots of constellations, if not all I think, and the origin of their names. Which could also be very useful in my project."Wait, could this be? Was he genuinely interested in astronomy?
Hearing him talk about one of her favourite topics made her heart skip a beat. Finding someone who happened to have such a thing in common with her was just so exciting.
"Do you want me to help you?" she suddenly blurted out without even thinking much. "I mean.. if you need help. I know a thing or two, so I could try to-"
"Yeah, that would be great," he nodded, cutting her off. He then looked down on his watch. "Well, I've got to go now, Cassandra." And with that he turned around, starting walking away before glancing over his shoulder. "Oh, and I'll probably give you the book back in a few days."
"Alright."Seeing him turning around a corner, she dragged out a breath then. "He actually knew my name?"
Whatever, she thought then and walked to her next class.»»»
Cassandra arrived home, drained from the heat and the work of the day. At least she could rant a little about her weird situation to Minnie. Cassandra might have had more friends, but when she needed to talk about something she always preferred Minnie. An even though the Columbian had many more friends than her, she still always made time to listen and help her with her problems. Which again, Cassandra appreciated a lot.
After changing into her pyjamas and tying up her long curls into a ponytail, she instantly headed for the attic. Laying down on the cool mattress there, she stared at the glass roof. She yawned then, the sunlight making her eyes grow tired. So she rolled over to rest her head on the pillow, when something caught her eye.
"Oh my god.. no."
A small piece of paper was folded beside her bed. She unfolded it, praying for it not to be what she thought it was.
"Well, fuck." Luck was clearly not on her side.It was Taehyung's scribbled paper. The one that she had read a few nights before and the one that was supposed to be in a small black plastic bag inside the binding of a book that he had now with him.
No way. No fucking way.
Cassandra panicked. She panicked hard. What was she supposed to do now? After all, she was one hundred percent sure that Taehyung would check the plastic bag sooner or later. How would he feel about her lying to him like that?
They hadn't known each other for long and those lyric, or whatever they were, looked pretty personal. She didn't think he would be that keen about finding out she knew about them. Then again, maybe not being that close was an advantage. He would just be mad and never talk to her again.. but she didn't want that.
He seemed pretty cool and, in fact, discovering the letters made her gain interest on him. Besides, he liked astronomy apparently. The idea of having someone to share her hobbies with was really exciting. She didn't want him to stop talking to her.
But most importantly right now, she had to find a way to somehow get close to the book while he still had it.
