Taehyung slowly took his lips off of hers, lingering a second on them. If things didn't turn out as hoped, at least he had that kiss to comfort himself. He opened his eyes then. Seeing Cassandra still had hers closed, he was tempted to take advantage and simply kiss her again. She opened them though, staring at him startled.
He couldn't really tell if it was a good or bad stare, until her lips broke into a smirk.
"That took you long enough," she teased.
He couldn't believe it. "W-what do you mean?" he asked, feeling a smile creeping on his face.
"I mean that you literally had me waiting for this at least.." Her gaze wandered around, thinking. "Once? Or twice I think."
Taehyung let out a laugh under his breath, shaking his head then. He leaned in to kiss her one more time. However, the loud voices from the inside returned, making him freeze. By the look of it, she had heard them, too. Because she abruptly went underwater and started swimming away from him.The thing was, Taehyung didn't want her to get away. It felt like back at the lake when she had let go of his hand. He wanted them to stay like they had been seconds before. However, Cassandra had already reached the pool's edge, attempting to get out, when Hoseok and Jimin appeared. Spotting them from the kitchen.
"Oh my god.." Jimin couldn't contain his laughter. He was literally laughing with his whole body when seeing their dripping faces. "Wha- what happened?"
Meanwhile Hoseok, who also couldn't help crack a confused laugh, rushed to help her out. Holding his hand out, she thankfully grabbed it and he pulled her out.
Taehyung was about to come up with a somewhat reasonable explanation to Jimin's question, when Cassandra preempted him. "I.. I wanted to get Yeontan out, but then I slipped and fell. And because Tae made fun of me, I dragged him into the water as well," she grinned. Making Taehyung's eyes widen in awe, ascertaining that she was just as good in acting as him."Damn, you weren't joking. You really are clumsy as hell," Hoseok laughed to which she nodded. Jimin appeared with two big towels then, throwing one to each of them. "Dry up and come back inside before you two catch a cold." The two guys returned inside then, still laughing about them. Leaving Cassandra and Taehyung alone again.
"So you dragged me into the water?" Taehyung arched a brow at her. The girl rolled her eyes, wrapping the towel in her hands around his shoulders, tucking at both ends so he was forced to bent down a little. His face on her level now. "It's called revenge," she said, her tone threatening.
He grinned. "But that's not what happened."
"Well, no," she grinned back, "But what was I supposed to tell them? That you are in fact the reason I almost ended up drowning?"
"You're the dramatic one now!" he laughed, playing along, "The pool isn't even that deep and you can swim, can't you?"
She gave him a challenging look then, letting go of the towel. "What if I couldn't?"
For a moment he just looked at her, pursing this lips. "I'd have obviously saved you then."
"Good to know," she laughed out loud when suddenly feeling her shoulders warm. Taehyung wrapping the towel, that was supposed to be his, around her soaked body. He then motioned to the inside. "Let's go or we will really get sick."She followed him into the kitchen and to the hallway. Much to her surprise he wasn't returning to the living room though, he was going upstairs.
"What's wrong?"
"I'll give you something to change into. Or do you want to stay in your soaked clothes?"
Seeing the trail of water they had left on the ground, she quickly nodded and followed him upstairs into his room. Yeontan was laying on his bed, his head perking up when seeing them. Cassandra couldn't help but pet him while Taehyung was looking through his drawers. "It's your fault I ended up wet again. But I can't be at you." Yeontan barked. Maybe he was indeed understanding her. "Yeah, you're right. It's not your fault. It's your owners. You're absolutely right."
Taehyung scoffed and a moment later she felt something being thrown on her head. Followed by his chuckle. "Wh-" She picked it up, seeing it was a thin, burgundy knit shirt and a pair of black shorts.
"I'll get changed in another room," he said then. Cassandra noticing he was holding clothes in his hands. She nodded and he left, closing the door behind him. He did have something gentleman like on him, she thought and took her clothes off, almost hitting Yeontan with the wet fabric. She quickly apologised to the dog, petting him before putting on the clothes Taehyung had given her. As expected, they were gigantic on her. But as she was used wearing larger fits, she didn't mind it. What was a little uncomfortable though, was her still wet underwear and shoes. It bothered her skin.
With a sigh, she took her wet clothes and left the room. Bumping into Taehyung, who had just exited Yoongi's room. And he couldn't help but notice how cute she looked in his large shirt.
"I think I'm going home," she said then as they climbed down the stairs. Taehyung just hummed in response, hiding his disappointment. He didn't want her to leave. Not that soon. Not after she got along with his friends. And not after that kiss. However, he couldn't object."So you guys really fell into the pool, huh?" Jin said with a smirk ghosting over his lips. Eyeing them with a raised brow as soon as they entered the living room. Obviously noticing their changed outfits. "Thought Jimin was lying."
"Well, as you can see, he wasn't. And I'm going home now to prevent myself from any more embarrassments in front of you guys."
"Oh, no. Don't feel bad. You're quite entertaining."
"Besides, you're distracting them from me," Namjoon added with a dimpled grin, to which she let out a dry laugh. "Anyway, thanks for the invitation. And the free food! It was great, never had Korean food before. So yeah.. I'll treat you next time."
"Are you sure? You saw how much we eat," Taehyung chuckled, everyone nodding in agreement. "We'll make you go broke," Yoongi lightly laughed, before taking another bite. Him an Jungkook still eating.
She waved them off though. "Nah, it's alright. I have enough money to treat you all at least once."
"Are you heading home alone though? It's quite late," Namjoon asked then. A hint of worry in his voice, which she found quite nice of him considering they had only now met. So she gave him a warm smile. "It's alright, I only live a few min-"
"I'll walk her home," Taehyung stated then, cutting her off.
Cassandra felt her cheeks blushing. After bidding them all goodbye, they headed out. Taehyung taking Yeontan with him.
"Can I walk him?" Cassandra asked then with a puppy-look, which he simply couldn't refuse.
"Be careful though. He may be small, but he can be quite strong," he smiled, sliding the leash over her wrist. She nodded and he watched her happily walk Yeontan, almost as if he was her dog.
However, after a couple minutes of them walking in a silence, that wasn't uncomfortable nor comfortable -rather a strange mix of both- they already reached her house. The girl having a pout on her lips as she had to hand Yeontan over again. Taehyung finding her expression adorable. "I promise you can walk him again."
A smile spread over her lips. She seemed excited about that promise. "Really?" He nodded. They grew silent then as both remained standing there, in front of her house. Both not knowing how to properly say goodbye after what had happened. Unsure of whether to mention it or not."Thanks for walking me home," she eventually said then.
"Don't mention it."
She nodded, chewing nervously on her lips. Contemplating of whether and what to say. Just like him. She wanted to say it back. She wanted to tell him that she liked him as well. However, thinking of doing that, she started panicking for some reason. It would be weird if she said it out of the blue on the pavement in front of her house. It didn't seem right. But if she didn't do anything, he might think that she wasn't interested.
Turned out, she wasn't the best in these kind of things either."Goodnight," she said then and without thinking much, she got on her tiptoes. Placing a kiss on his cheek. And Taehyung grew stiff at her touch. Feeling her warm lips on his cold skin. Realising what she was doing, slight panic about her impulsive move overcame her chest all over again. And before he could even properly react, she quickly stepped back and ran to her front door.
It was ridiculous, it wasn't anything special. Elementary school kids kissed each other on their cheeks all the time. And technically, they had already shared an actual kiss on the lips. Making her feel even more embarrassed about her move just now. Maybe she should have just kissed him. Maybe he thought of her as prude now.
"Cassandra, wait!" Taehyung yelled then, causing her to almost drop her keys. Having come back to his senses, he couldn't help but smile. His lips soon spreading to a grin. After all, it had worried him a little that she hadn't mentioned their kiss at all. So he took that as an answer. "Goodnight!"
He watched her giving him a bright smile as well, disappearing behind her door then. And for some reason, he already missed her and her smile. Like the sun missed the moon in the morning sky.»»»
