Three days had passed since the last time Cassandra had spoken to Taehyung. It was alright though. It wasn't like they had been friends or anything anyway. At least that was what she kept telling herself every morning she walked to college and whenever she sat in photography class. If needed, she could ignore someone's entire existence. And that was what she was doing or at least tried to.
After all she was acting extremely weird about a guy she had only once helped out with astronomy. A month ago she probably wouldn't even have recognised him in the college halls. It was Friday afternoon by now and she was yet again helping out her two friends studying. Her explaining them the topics of the semester and writing down simple notes for them to check. It took a while to make them process everything. It had been easier with Taehyung. But this wasn't Taehyung, it was Alexa and René.
However, the studying itself had only lasted about an hour. After that, the two suddenly had decided it was enough studying for a day. Which Cassandra didn't really understand, but it wasn't her who struggled and they weren't children. So the rest of the afternoon had been actually spent playing Mario Kart.
"Anyway, thanks for helping us again. Still not fully understand the difference between purism and Bauhaus, but whatever," Alexa laughed. Tying her short hair into a tiny ponytail. "We'll have to continue this. We still need to work on it." Which René agreed with.
"Sure, sure. I'll help you guys," Cassandra waved at them. They really were like those kids in group projects who did the bare minimum and still couldn't even do that right. However, Cassandra was amused by them so she didn't mind helping them out again. It wasn't like she had anything else to do. Besides that one term paper she procrastinated to finish. As the two were exiting the door, she noticed someone crossing the street from the corners of her eyes. Heading towards her house.
"What are you doing here?" she asked, unimpressed by Taehyung randomly showing up.
"Oh, hey. What are you guys doing here?" He was grinning at her friends, ignoring her question.
"She helped us study."
"Oh, I didn't know."
Cassandra scoffed lightly. "I mentioned it though.."
He pursed his lips. "I don't remember.. probably wasn't paying attention," he mumbled then, scratching the back of his head.
Alexa eyed him up and down. "And what are you doing here?" she asked then, noisy as she was.
"When I came to pick up some photography notes a week ago, I ended up leaving a book here. But I need it again." He gave them a fake grin. Cassandra looked at him, furrowing her brows. It was impressive how much of a liar he could be. Though technically, it wasn't all a complete lie this time. Taehyung glanced at her then, still smiling. "Right, Cassandra?"Both, Alexa and René looked at her in anticipation and she quickly nodded. Though she was sure that Alexa knew what book he was talking about.
"Well, anyway," René said then, "We'll leave now." They waved goodbye, walking down the driveway and eventually disappearing from their sight. Cassandra turned to Taehyung then. Giving him a questioning look. His previous grin having gone back to his usual straight expression. "You have a book I want. Not a photography one, but still. I need it one more time. I promise I'll return it tomorrow."The audacity.., she thought and was about to yell at him, when she realised it was pointless. He probably just wanted his stupid plastic bag from inside the binding back. With a sigh, she pushed herself off the door frame and let him enter. Him following her inside and up to the attic. It felt way too familiar. Yet different.
She picked up the book from where she had left it on the bed and stretched her arm for him to grab it.It was evening by now. The dim sunrays, which were slowly disappearing behind the horizon, leaked through the roof. A warm light surrounding them. A ray getting reflected in his eyes. The brown of his wavy hair, that was framing his almost round face, shining in a lighter shade. His features softening in the light. Making him look somewhat unreal and breathtaking.
