"Don't worry, I'm already leaving. Just got my book back."
Cassandra's reply was dry, yet not rude. She then eyed the little, furry dog next to him and internally laughed. Of course, he was a dog person. Not that she minded, she liked dogs as well. Especially such cute ones like his. But still, it was quite ironic to her.She started walking down the path towards him, as it was the only way to leave. Pretending like seeing him again didn't affect her at all, she bent over to the little dog. Seeing it getting curious at her, she let it smell her hand before petting its long fur. Taehyung observed her silently, noticing a genuinely happy smile on her lips when the dog started wiggling his tail happily at her touch.
"What's his name?" she asked, tickling the dog's neck.
"Yeontan." His tone monotonous. She decided to ignore it.
"What does it mean?"
"Coal briquette."
She laughed out loudly. Why wasn't she surprised about him choosing such a weird name for a dog? It somehow fit though. And the pattern of his fur on his face reminded her of her teddy bear.
"Anyway," she sighed then and stood straight again. Avoiding any eye contact with him. "Bye, guys!" she waved at the three guys on the front porch, them bidding her goodbye as well. Watching her leave.Taehyung glanced down at Yeontan. Somewhat mad at the dog for seemingly liking her as well. It didn't make sense, but perhaps if the puppy didn't like her it would have been a sign for him to dislike her as well.
"Ya, Taehyung!" Seokjin said then as he was propping his chin on a hand. His brows raised. "Jimin said you and her were friends, but she told us you wouldn't like her."
Taehyung internally groaned at Jimin being yet again the biggest gossiper. Why would he tell the guys they were friends? Just because they knew each other? And because they spend some time together?
"Why don't you like her, though?" Hoseok asked, looking up from his phone, "She seems nice."
"I.. have my reasons," he mumbled then and passed them by, entering the house.
Jungkook gave them a look before yelling. "Do you, perhaps, like her?"
"No! " they heard him yell back from inside. Clearly annoyed by his question.
They exchanged glances, smirking.
"He likes her," the youngest noted.
"Are we gonna tease him now?" the oldest asked.
"Of course we will."
"That would be quite childish.." Hoseok said then.
"Yes, and?"
"Nothing. Just wanted to point that out."»»»
Cassandra kicked her entrance door shut, leaning against it then she heaved a breath.
If he had returned only two minutes later, they probably wouldn't have met and she wouldn't have had to see him again. But maybe the universe wanted it for some messed up reason. Shaking her head at this thought, she took her shes off and went up to her room. Taking out the book from her backpack.
Previously in his room she had been too distracted to remember checking the inside of the binding. So she did now and indeed, it was gone. The small, black plastic bag was gone. "Oh, so he did remember to take it out this time," she mumbled and placed the object on her desk.
Somewhat inside her disappointed.
Now there was no reason for him to ever talk to her again. That was great though, wasn't it?
With a sigh she laid down in her bed. Her eyes feeling heavy. The tiredness of the past days washing over her. She didn't even have the energy to remove her make-up. Grabbing her teddy bear from the side, she hugged it tightly and drifted off to sleep.
Not for too long though. The door bell ringing all of a sudden then, making her perk up. The clock on her wall telling her that only half an hour had passed. Which irritated her a lot. She wasn't expecting any delivery or visitors. Rubbing her eyes, she quickly rushed downstairs to see who the hell was interrupting her nap. Seeing none other than Taehyung. He was standing there, leaning against her door frame. The blouse he was previously wearing now replaced by a simple white shirt. "Uhm, hey." He was shyly looking at her when she opened the door. Noticing her sleepy face. He couldn't help but find it cute for a moment, before snapping out of it. "W-were you napping?" he plainly asked instead.
"Yeah and you woke me up."
"Sorry."
To be honest, Cassandra really didn't know how to act right now. Not only because he looked cute as hell with his mop of waves swaying over his eyes, making her heart almost melt. But also because she remembered he was an idiot, showing her multiple times that he didn't want to be around her. So she couldn't think of any reason why he was there. So she kept it casual by just nodding her head as a reply. Waiting for him to explain himself."The.. guys sent me," he spoke up then. It was ridiculous, but they had been scolding him for being 'mean' to her for no reason. Like he was a toddler and his mum sent him to the other kid to apologise.
He was well aware though that they only did it to bother him. Because they knew damn well how awkward he was with things like that. And they found it entertaining to tease him and watch him not knowing how to properly act.
"Oh, what for?" she curiously asked, folding her arms in front of her chest.
He dramatically sighed then. "Namjoon and Jimin came back with lots of food and they're inviting you to come over and I don't know, eat with us?" He already regretted coming there. Why didn't he just went back and lied about her not being home or not interested.Cassandra's eyes blinked rapidly at his question. That was quite unexpected, especially since she didn't hang out with any guys except for René. She didn't really know what to say. After all, she didn't know his friends. And though every normal person would see that as an opportunity to get to know new people, she was quite introverted when it came to that. Besides, Taehyung would be there as well.
However, her stomach started rumbling. The last time she had eaten something being during lunch break. And having to cook something now sounded quite exhausting. Even though she could cook and that pretty well. But when it came to cook for herself, she became lazy and just did something easy like pasta. But still, even that sounded tiring.
"Okay," she eventually said then. She had already assumed she pretty much had a crush on Taehyung. There was no point in denying that by now, so she might as well just spend some time with him. Even if he was treating her weirdly for no reason. She was sure that she would get over him sooner or later anyway. Besides, his friends asked her to come and they seemed nice. And she would get free food and for free food she could even handle him for an afternoon.
So she put her converse back on, grabbed her keys and closed the door behind them.Taehyung hadn't expected her to accept to be honest. Especially not considering the tension between them, that mainly existed because of him. So he wasn't sure if he was glad or not about her doing it.
"By the way, who's Namjoon? Another one of your friends?"
"Ah yeah. You haven't met yet, I guess."
"No," she giggled as they walked down her street. "You have quite lots of friends. Don't you?"
The boy shrugged, shoving his hands into his pockets. The fact she still was able talking to him so casually and even giggle so adorably, made him only feel worse about the way he treated her.
She continued being kind and polite to him, even though she had every right not to. She could easily just act like a stone-cold bitch. But she didn't. Making his chest only ache more. It would have been much easier if she did treat him rudely after all.
"Y-you got lots of friends as well, though?" he asked then in an attempt of acting normal. Watching her shaking her head. A sad smile on her lips. "No, not really. The ones you know are the only ones. And even with them I'm not really that close. Maybe with Minnie a little, but that's all.." Realising her rambling, she pursed her lips.He hummed simply. Not knowing what to say as it seemed to something she didn't want to talk about. Thinking of something else then to change the subject. "Can I have your phone number?"
She furrowed her brows at him. "Sure, but why?"
"So next time I won't have to walk all the way to your house to tell you something." And Cassandra couldn't believe her eyes, but he was actually grinning when saying that. Last time she saw his grin had been over a week ago. It was warm and bright, just like she remembered it.
He held his phone out for her and she grabbed it from his hand. Both ignoring their blushing cheeks when their fingers touched.
"My house is only a few minutes away from yours though. Are you that lazy?" she giggled again while unlocking the device. Seeing it needed a passcode. "It's 0613," he smiled, already knowing what she was about to ask him. "And no, I'm not that lazy. I simply find it more practical." She nodded and unlocked it. Both his lock and home screen were images of paintings. She bit back a smile. Going to his contacts then, she started typing in her number and saved it. Calling her own phone to also get his.
A melody that Taehyung knew starting playing loudly from her backpocket. "That's.. that's a film melody. Wait.."
Amused, she watched him thinking hard. Tapping his chin while trying to remember where he had heard it before. It was a famous one. However, his memory simply couldn't come up with.
"It's the love theme from 'The Godfather'."
His brows raised, staring at her for a moment. "You.. like 'The Godfather' ?"
A small smirk spread over her lips, Cassandra shrugging nonchalantly. "My favourite film."
Of course, he thought. Letting out a dry laugh under his breath, he looked down on the pavement. She kept making things only harder for him.
