Blankets- Jaya

"Hey Nya, I've got-"

Jay stops when he sees his girlfriend curled up on the sofa wrapped in about ten blankets.

"Did you get it?!" Nya asks excitedly.

"Yeah, do you need that many blankets?"

Nya's eyes widen, "a-am I not allowed this many blankets?"

"No, you are. Do you really need ten of them though?"

"Yes it's cold."

"Nya it's twenty five degrees outside."

"I'm cold," Nya whines, reaching for the DVD in Jay's hand.

"Can I have one?" Jay asks, handing Nya the DVD.

"No!" Nya pulls them closer to her.

"Are you wearing my hoodie as well?" Jay asks, spotting a blue hoodie cuff under the pile of blankets.

"No...fine yes I am. It's comfy."

"I know sweetheart. How about we share the blankets?" Nya sighs. "Or share at least one blanket?"

"Okay," Nya perks up.

Jay takes the DVD. "Are you sure you want to watch this?"

"Kai and Lloyd say it's good."

"Yes, and they also said you will end up crying," Jay puts the DVD in.

"Oh," Nya murmurs. "I still wanna watch it."

Jay presses play and sits on the sofa next to Nya. Nya cuddles into him, bringing her blankets with her. Jay pulls a blanket onto his legs. Nya snatches half of it back. Nya rests her head on Jay's chest. Jay kisses her forehead.

𝗔𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗲
"It-it was so sad," Nya murmurs, tears running down her face.

"Shh, it's okay," Jay pulls Nya, blankets as well, onto his lap.

Nya cries into Jay's chest, clutching the blankets.

"Hey, it's okay. Shh, it's okay."

Nya calms down and wraps the largest blanket around her.

"Hey can I have some blanket too?" Jay pouts.

Nya shuffles in Jay's lap and wraps the blanket around one of his shoulders and snuggles into it.

"Thank you. Nya, why do you like blankets so much?"

"They...provide comfort."

"For what?" Jay asks gently.

"M-my mom gave this to me when I was a baby," Nya holds up the smallest blanket. "I've had it ever since."

"Is that the same blanket you hug in your sleep?" Jay asks.

"Huh?"

"Lloyd said you have a small blanket which you clutch in your sleep. He's sent me pictures."

"Y-yeah," Nya murmurs. Damn it Lloyd

"I-I also used to make blanket forts with mom, dad and Kai."

Jay kisses her on the cheek.

"I-I was also bullied at school, so at night, I grabbed every blanket in the house and made blanket forts in the living room."

"Is there anything else?" Jay asks gently, holding Nya's waist.

"T-they're easy to clutch and hug a-after I-I have a nightmare about...him."

"Shh, I'm here sweetheart."

"P-please don't leave me."

"I won't cutie, I won't."
