Chapter 53

Adriana's POV:

I walked to the dojo and changed. Sensei was happy to see me. I used concealer to hide the bruises on my wrists. As a punishment for missing 3 weeks straight I had to fight every adult in the gym, even if I lost. He knew I was leaving but it was about the discipline.

Thanks to my wrists my grip was terrible and I got flip by everyone... it was so embarrassing.

Before I knew it, it was 7:00 and I have gymnastics at 8:00

That's like a 45 minute walk from here so I changed into my leotard and spandex then put on my team sweater.

"OH MY GOD YOURE BACK!" one of the girls screamed and they all came running to engulf me a group hug.

"Good to see you're back Adriana, I hope you're ready to perform your hardest routine yet." Kat says

"What? I already have a routine?" I was hoping it would be a light practice

"Yup since you're a high school senior and such a fast learner the UCLA gymnastics team is recruiting and they asked for a senior. You're my only senior so you'll tag along at their next 3 competition. There's one this Sunday, the 10th, and the 18th. You'll also showcase your uneven bars, rhythmic dance with a ball, and balance beam to them. Lastly, you'll be practicing with them for the rest of the month."

"That's awesome thank you for the opportunity. One question though, do I practice here today or with them?"

"With us then starting tomorrow you're theirs."

"Okay let's get started on my routine." I said with a fake smile

We worked on it for hours thanks to my wrists it was really hard to stay on the bar. By the time I finally finished the routine it was 11.

"Looks like we went over. Go change and I'll drive you home since your family hasn't come." I nodded and went to changed then came out to the parking lot. I would've said it was fine but I was in so much pain and a two hour walk didn't sound too appetizing.

It was around 12:15 when I got home and when I walked inside dad looked mad

"Where were you Adriana?" he asked in his mafia voice

"I had football, then judo, then gymnastics. Coach drove me home since it was late." I answered annoyed. I wasn't trying to be rude but I was in so much pain

"Drop the attitude." Enzo crossed his arms

"I don't have an attitude I'm just exhausted and I still have homework to do. Can we please wrap this up Enzo? I'm really tired."

"Why didn't you call us or answer your phone?" mom asked

"I didn't get a chance to charge my phone last night so I left it in my room."

"Why is she here?" a familiar annoying voice asked... Riley

"Cause I live here, now what's your excuse?" I asked

"I'm saying hi to my zia and Zio. So when did you guys start taking in strays?"

"Enough Riley be nice to your cousin." Zio Lorenzo told her

"Just cause Zio Alessandro adopted her doesn't make her my cousin."

"I'm not adopted you stupid cunt, I'm Alessio's twin!" I yelled

"AJ stop cursing." Zia told me. She's like Zio Lorenzo always joking around until it's time to discipline their kids. They're a match made in heaven

"Why wasn't she ever around then?" Riley asked confused

"When my ex wife ran off she took Adriana. Then at 8 the Russian mafia leader adopted her and she lived in Russia until last year, where she moved back with her mother." Dad answered

"So what your saying is we can't trust her cause she's a dirty Russian?"

"Disrespect my mafia again and you'll share a similar fate as our late uncle." I told her coldly

"Adriana!" Zio Lorenzo scolded

"Hey dad did you choose a date and make the invites for the ball yet?" he nodded

"It's October 24th."

"Why am I not surprised you're having him throw you a random ball."

"It's not random I need to meet and discuss important business with the mafia leaders and dad thought a ball/conference would be the appropriate setting." this bitch is really pissing me off

"Why is she involved in the Mafia? She's a girl!"

"Because she was unfortunately involved before she came to live with us, she also killed an enemy that was threatening every mafia." Enzo explained

"I'm also taking over the Russian mafia and all of Aleksandr's businesses in 5 years." I said smug

"So basically she's a monster?" she deadpanned

There's that word again

"Look we're family can't we just try to like each other. Maybe I won't kill you if you stop pissing me off?" I said bored

She thought about it for a bit

"You're unfortunately still a Lombardi and the only other girl so I'll play nice. Also your stupid threats don't scare me." she came and stuck her hand out

I lifted my hand to flip her off but it was shaking uncontrollably

"What's wrong with your hand?" I pulled it back

"Nothing I'm gonna go change." I tried to rush passed them but we can guess how that turned out

"Let us see."

"It's nothing I was on my hands too much this happens to me sometimes."

"Okay but tomorrow you're going to the hospital for an X-ray."

"Sorry I cant tomorrow I have gymnastics practice at UCLA. I'm shadowing them this month so yeah I can't. Can I please go up and change?"

"Fine but we'll talk more about this later."
