Chapter 21

btw the picture is kinda misleading, the chapter is not as bad as it looks XD

I paced the waiting room back and forth, the anticipation was killing me. Petra had gone into labour hours ago and still hadn't come out yet.

"Armin calm down, she'll be fine!" Eren chuckled. He was worried too, I could see it, but he was trying to calm me down. Levi and Robert were holding hands and sitting down together.

I was worried sick for Petra, obviously never being in a situation like this before and never even seeing it on TV because I didn't really watch TV at all. Not only that, this was going to be the mark of Ymir's revenge. The baby was going to be born, which made me even more aware, worried and protective than ever before. Last time I got a message from her was months ago, but I never told Eren about her.

"Excuse me?" A nurse peeked her head around the corner of the room where Petra was.

"Y-Yes?" I looked at her impaitiently.

He motioned us to come in with a smile. Eren held my hand and walked with me into the room with Levi and Robert following where Petra was, holding a beautiful baby in her arms.

I gasped lightly at the sight of the child in her arms, as Petra looked up at me weakly and smiled. "I-Its a boy." She said, looking back at the baby.

I squeezed Eren's hand and looked at him. He was looking at the child with a soft expression, with love. Levi and Robert were also in awe, looking at the child with smiles on their faces.

"Congratulations." I whispered.

"Thanks dad." Petra sighed happily.

Levi kissed her sisters forehead and smiled at her. Petra gave Levi a one armed half hug.

For a while it seemed like nothing could go wrong; but when people say that, you always know it will never go their way.

"Where's Troy?" I asked.

"I don't know." Petra mumbled bitterly.

After two days, Petra and her baby were allowed to leave the hospital. She hadn't named it yet because she was waiting for Troy, but he hadn't shown up and Petra was started to get really annoyed. We decided to go to Troy's house and approach him directly.

Petra knocked on the door and after a few seconds a woman opened the door. She had dark bags under her red eyes, and looked very tired.

"P-Petra dear, I'm so sorry." The woman lunged at Petra and embraced her in a hug, sobbing.

"W-What?" She asked.

"What do you mean what?" The woman pulled away and looked at her, with an almost angry expression.

"Wait wait, I think we are all in wrong places right now." Eren butted in. "We came here to see Troy because Petra had the child and he wasn't there to see it."

"B-But, Troy d-died two days ago." The woman sniffed.

"W-What!?" Petra's eyes widened in shock.

He died?

"I thought you got the text..." The woman looked away. "C-Come in." She said. She was trying to act strong infront of us, yet her tears kept streaming, making me want to cry myself.

"You see... Two days ago Troy committed s-suicide. He left a note for you..." The woman took an envelope from her pocket and gave it to Petra. She opened it and read it, her expression turning from horrified to terrified as she dropped the note in tears. I picked it up and read it myself with Eren.

I'm sorry, I just wasn't ready for this child.

"What a reason to kill himself..." Eren mumbled. I elbowed him in the stomach and he groaned in pain.

"Don't be rude." I hissed to him. Turning to Petra, I pet her back as she sobbed. "I'm sorry baby..."

"T-To be honest... I don't understand it at all." The woman cried.

"How so?" Eren asked.

"Well, when I eventually found him, he was..." She choked. "Hanging b-by the neck. B-But, he had a k-knife in his chest too." She explained.

"So, he did this because he wasn't sure he could handle a child... And to kill himself both hung and stabbed himself?" Eren asked. "Why would he have done both...?"
