Chapter 27

Ava's POV

Ryan King.

His silver-grey eyes and his exotically masculine cologne flashed through my mind. Our slow dance, his electrifying touch, those feelings and all the intimacy stirred deep inside me. I was so lost in the last memory of him that I actually forgot the situation I was in until I heard them.
"Ava! AVA!" 

I was instantly brought back to present.
"Uh.. Yes.. What were you saying?" I asked absentmindedly. 

I had literally stopped listening after they said Ryan.

Vanessa and Veronica raised their eyebrows at me.
"We said we need to leave." 

"Like. Right Now." 

"Leave? Where? How?" I asked them in confusion. 

Nik rolled her eyes at me while Nessa just shook her head.
"There's no time to explain everything again." 

"Just come with us. And do as we say." 

Vanessa walked to the door and quickly glanced in the corridor.
As soon she gave a thumbs up, Nik took my hand led me outside.
I thought they were taking me out of the mansion, but instead they led me somewhere else.

That's the way to Arthur's room.

"Uh.. Guys.. Why are we going towards Arthur's room when the exit is the other way?" I asked them, a little panicked. 

"Because Arthur is in his room right now and we have some 'business' with him." Nik said with a smirk. 

"How do you know he is in there?" 

They both chuckled.
"We pulled a small prank on him." Nessa told me.

"We actually made Arlo spill drinks on his wedding suit." Nik explained with a laugh. 

Damn! He must have got wayyyy pissed. The look on his face must be hilarious.

I laughed along too. 

"Shh.. Keep it low you both!" Vanessa scolded us. 

We entered his room, there was no one in there. So we thought, until we heard some noise from the bathroom.
Nessa and Nik turned towards me quickly and whispered, "Go hide in the closet until we ask you to come out. Don't make any sound."
I quickly rushed into the closet and closed the doors behind me.
I tried to eavesdrop but couldn't hear anything.

This curiosity is going to get you killed someday, Aves! 

I opened the door slightly, just enough so that I could peek and see what was going on.
I gasped at the scene unfolding in front of me.
Veronica was sitting in the middle of the bed with her right leg exposed because of the slit in her dress while Vanessa was leaning on the sofa. 

What the hell are they doing?!!

Just then, the door of the bathroom slid open to reveal Arthur in an expensive black tuxedo. 

Any ordinary girl would be entrapped by his looks but only I know what a devil lies beneath that handsome face.

He was stunned when he saw the girls in his room.
But his surprised expression instantly turned into flirtatious one when Nik gestured him to approach her with an mischievous smile. 

Oh my god! They are gonna seduce him. But why?

Vanessa walked towards him and whispered something in his ear at which he smirked.
They had turned into some seductresses.
Arthur pulled Nik out of the bed and directly into his chest while Nessa sneaked her hand around him from behind. 

How shameless is this man? He is ready to jump into bed with strangers even on his wedding day! Thank god, I'm getting out of this situation.

I sighed in relief.

I peeked again and saw Nik was grabbing his face and forcefully turning his attention to her when he tried to look at Nessa, sideways.
Veronica distracted him by leaning in as if she going to kiss him. 

No!! Don't!! Are you crazy Nik?

Just when he was about to kiss her, his eyes lifted and met mine. My eyes widened and heart stopped.
His blue eyes stared into mine through the small gap in the door from across the room.
But before he could react, Vanessa stabbed an injection into his neck. His eyes started to close and his body went loose. Nik stepped aside letting him fall face down on the bed.
I threw the doors open and rushed towards them.
"Is he dead?!" I asked them in a panic. 

"No he's not. We just tranquilized him. He is just asleep." Vanessa winked.
I held my head with one hand and sat down on the bed. 

What the hell is happening?

Nik handed me a glass of water which I gladly took and drank to calm my nerves. I thanked her and she nodded.
Vanessa pressed the ear ornament and said, "Arthur is down. It's your turn now." 

She paused and listened. "Don't worry. We have her."

"Was that Ryan?" I asked her. She nodded.
I took a deep breath.
"What now? Why did we sedate him?" 

"It's all part of the plan, Ava." 

"Hunt is not just your enemy. He is our enemy as well." 

I looked at them with confusion.
"What do you mean?" 

"He killed our parents too Ava. Ryan built this Kings empire with the help of our Uncle Matthew." 

"We were just waiting for the right opportunity to take revenge on the Hunts." 

"And that opportunity walked right through our doors two days ago."

So that means he didn't just ruin my family. He has destroyed so many others too. Ryan has an equally difficult past. No wonder I feel this, some kind of connection with him. He knows the pain of losing parents. But atleast he has his siblings with him.
I don't have anyone. I miss my brothers so much. How must have they coped up with everything? And Papa? He must have broken completely.
I wish I could see them. 

I let out a deep sigh. I looked up at the girls.
"What opportunity?"
They looked at each other.

Do twins mindlink or something? It feels like they are having some private conversation.
Marco and Matteo shared something similar too.
If Marco and Matteo had met these two it would have been epic!
Gosh Ava, stop making scenarios which may never happen!

"We don't think we should tell you Ava. You will find out soon."
