I spent two weeks focusing on the proper, fast recovery of my leg while being locked up in my temporary room, hiding and ignoring my temporary neighbour and his brother.
Rylie focused on her duties as a housekeeper. She had locked herself up in our room for two days. She didn't show her face to anybody and stayed hidden just like me until the third day, she came to visit me and to continue her duties. That girl is smart. When I told her to run back to our room, she went to the kitchen first, took snacks which was enough for three days after she explained everything to Louisa then locked herself inside the room.
She spent two days eating and crying.
I, on the other hand, have been doing everything to avoid everybody. I kept the balcony door closed and locked up so that the capo won't jump and enter my room at night. I have stopped spending my nights on the balcony. I won't step out of my bed unless I have to pee or poop very urgently and keep staring at my leg which has almost healed.
Almost.
I can walk properly, but it would need some more rest of at least another week to be perfectly normal.
Things have been not good among any of us. Rylie refuses to open up and write out her sadness or anger or whatever she feels. I refuse to open my bedroom's door every night when somebody knocks on it and doesn't say anything. I know who the person is, but I refuse to talk to him or see him.
I stopped removing the last of my bandage when I heard a knock on the door. I looked at the time and saw it was only eight at night.
Not again...
I got up from the bed, pressed my ear at the door and listened to the voices outside.
"You know that she won't open the door." A hushed voice whispered.
"I know."
"Then what's the point of knocking on it, brother?"
"I don't know. Why can't I just kick it open like the last time?"
"No, Leo. Learn to respect people's privacy. They appreciate that."
I bit my inner cheeks and clenched my fists tightly. First, his brother acts as if he cares about me, but in reality he is just cruel and heartless. And now, this capo acts as if he cares, but the truth is that he is much worse than his elder brother. I never asked for anybody to care about me.
I walked back to my bed and continued to remove my bandages then suddenly, I heard a knock again.
"Ahhmie?" I heard Rylie's voice from the other side.
Quickly, I sprang out of my bed, opened the door and pulled her in then shut the door loudly.
"Rylie! What are you doi—" I stopped when I saw the tray in her hands. Dinner time.
She rolled her eyes, kept the tray on the bed, took out her notepad and wrote, 'what were expecting?'
"Nothing. It's just that brothers were outside."
'They left as soon as they saw me.'
Oh, that's good. They're gone.
'Eat your dinner. I'm going back to my room.'
I sighed. "You can stay the night here with me if you want. Have a little talk with me about everything."
She shook her head and gave me a sad smile. 'I rather not.'
"Rylie..."
'I'm fine.' She scribbled. 'Nobody is disturbing me and lurking around me to talk to me.'
