*welcome to season four! you're gonna start to see a lot go on between rick and cas and their dynamic change a bit, so get ready for that, a lot of angst and also cas has bangs now because i wanted to use gifs of the actress with bangs lmao. fyi, i'll be skipping the dragon episode because it just wasn't my favorite and made me uncomfortable, i really didn't want to write it and i wasn't sure how to work cas into it. anyways, hope you enjoy season four! also not edited as usual*

Cas could feel the tension radiating between her and Rick and she was certain the rest of the table did too. Ever since the events of the White House and what happened with Beth, their relationship had taken a turn. It was only a short time but Cas felt like Rick wasn't giving the same amount of effort anymore, all because she decided to make a decision for herself and not for him for once. Cas glanced over at Rick, who shoved a forkful of his breakfast into his mouth, a grumpy look on his face. It had only been a few short weeks but Cas knew this wasn't something Rick's ego would just allow him to get over quickly. And yet, Cas was still here.
A part of her was still here because she wanted to give Rick a chance to cool off. She essentially gave him an ultimatum by threatening to leave and she still felt like she owed him a chance to consider it before leaving.
The other part of her finally felt more like herself again despite the heavy weight of the tension between them. When she slept at night, the only thing keeping her up was the cold side of the bed that Rick once occupied. Finally, the demon in her head was gone and that led Cas to believe she made the correct choice by confronting Rick and that it was truly just her subconscious trying to tell her she about him. No longer was she waking up in cold sweat or forcing herself to stay awake for as long as possible. Now, she was just waking up alone, which deep down she felt like she'd rather have Bill Cipher back in her head than wake up with out Rick again.
Yet, she made her choice. Now, she just had to wait.
"Morty's on Jessica's instagram again," Summer teased, sitting next to her brother. Jerry sat at the head of the table and Beth and Rick sat across from Summer and Morty with Cas across from Jerry. She cracked a smile at Summer's teasing and Morty's quick defense, moving a strand of her freshly cut hair behind her ear. Now, instead of shoulder length wavy hair, she now had her hair cut just above her shoulders and bangs resting on her forehead. It was a welcome change for her and it made her feel better about the whole situation.
"Get out of here, jerk," Morty grumbled to Summer, pulling his phone away from her view.
"What's so embarrassing, Morty? Sharing it with your family might help?" Jerry pointed out and Cas gave a small look of agreement his way. Cas never had a huge issue with Jerry before him and Beth spilt but during their spilt, he managed to get on her nerves in every way possible. Though, now that he was back, she found herself on civil terms with him and partially enjoying his company for short periods of time. That only made Rick more annoyed with her which only made her do it more.
