❝ the beginning. ❞

Taymor rushed into the hospital, his heart racing and his actions frantic. He had never rushed somewhere so quickly— nor had Joseph seen him so upset. Tay's eyes were bloodshot from so much crying and his nose was a slight red color from vigorously wiping at it. Joe grabbed onto the boys waist, pulling him abruptly into his chest before he placed a mask onto the boys face. " Slow down, Tay," the man said worriedly, gently rubbing his fingers across the boys hips. " Don't stress yo' self out mama, i'm sho she 'ight." he continued, reassuring the boy as he lead him to the front desk.

Taymor slowly nodded his head, pinching the cloth mask between his fingers as he brought it over his nose— sniffing vigorously. The woman behind the desk looked up from what she was doing as the couple approached the desk and she smiled at the two. " How may I help you?" she asked calmly, crossing her gloved hands onto the light colored wood in front of her. Tay looked up at Joe, who slightly nodded at him.

" Yea- um, I'm here for Tiara McIntyre." the younger male spoke, hope in his eyes. The woman nodded, typing onto her computer before she brought her attention back onto the boy in front of her.

" Yes— shes on the fifth floor. But you can't go into the room," the woman said, finality evident in her tone. " You may see her through a glass window, but you can't go into the room due to the pandemic." she continued, earning a sad but nod of acceptance. She gave the couple the room number before the two were on their way to the elevator and soon on the designated floor. The two walked down the hallway hand in hand, before the smaller of the two let out a small gasp, running up to a large open window.

Joseph approached the boy, standing protectively behind him as he watched the boy look into the window sadly at the woman asleep in front of him. Taymor's grandmother looked very well for her age— you could tell she was a more mature and sophisticated woman, but she overall looked healthy. The brown skin woman was very vibrant and didn't look at all as if she had recently had a stroke. She looked perfectly fine. " See, Tay? She's okay." Joe said, looking down at the boy— relief coming over him as he watched as Taymor visibly calm down. " Cmon baby, she's asleep. We gone come back tomorrow mornin', you need some rest." Joe continued, finality in his voice. Tay let out a small sigh, nodding in agreement as he was very tired.

Joseph pushed the front door to his home open, guiding a very sleep Taymor into the house. The man pushed the door closed behind him as they entered, being sure to lock the door before he scooped his lover into his arms, a small squeal emitting from the younger boy. Joe let out a throaty chuckle at the sound, beginning his way up the stairs of the house as he watched Taymor's small movements carefully. He could feel the heat emitting from his other half— meaning that the boy had caught another fever. He knew that he would be dealing with nausea later for sure. Once Joe reached their shared room, he laid the boy onto the bed gently— pulling the comforter half up the boys body knowing he would be uncomfortable from the heat.

Joe walked into the bathroom, pulling open a cabinet under the sink and grabbing a mini trash bag, placing it into a small trash can before he brought it back into the room. He placed onto the side of the bed where Taymor slept, before he went over to the small refrigerator and grabbed a sprite out of it. It was nothing they could really do but take one of the boys prescribed pills and let it play out. The older male climbed into the bed next to his boyfriend, watching as the boy instantly rolled to his side of the bed— although there was plenty space on his side. Joseph playfully rolled his eyes, snaking his arm around the boys waist and his hand lightly landing onto Taymor's lower stomach.

He rubbed his thumb in small circles on the spot, thinking on how he would be a parent soon. He would've never thought of the situation to come so quickly and out of the blue, but it was comforting to know that it was with someone he loved— and would potentially be with for a long time. He felt Tay shift in his sleep, causing the Joe to glance down at the boy, his dyed green dreads falling into his face as he did so. He watched as Taymor's face scrunched up a few times before it went back to normal, knowing that the boy wasn't feeling well. All of this had just came crashing down on the younger male, which could cause a lot of stress.

Joseph just hoped the boy would calm down through the night, as stress wasn't good for him or their baby. The said man let out a small sigh, relaxing against the plush headboard as he allowed his head to fall back against it. A lot was going through his head— Taymor's grandmother and they now had a child on the way. The two would have to change their lives around a lot. Joe would still have to attend work and Taymor may have to find a way to move around while online schooling.

But, they would make it work. They didn't mind the thought of a little one running around the house, boy or girl— didn't matter to either of the them. A small smile played on Joseph's lips at the thought, he wanted to be here for the whole thing. Taymor wouldn't have to want for anything— and soon, his baby wouldn't either. He was going to make sure they were all perfect, including Taymor's grandmother.
