The dance seemed like it would never end. Kyle and I were pulled apart to navigate the teen woes, from girls crying because their boyfriend asked another girl to dance, to guys fighting to protect the heart of their current true love.

And it wasn’t long ago that I was in that same boat. But as I looked over at the man staring at me from behind the photo booth, all those lost teenage tears led me to this day. The day that I knew my love was enough. That I was finally enough.

He shook hands with Mr. Hawkings and made his way over to me. I was standing by the doors that lead out to the parking lot.

“Remind me to never let that sister of mine talk me into working on another dance committee again. I think I’d rather have jury duty than break up one more fight tonight.” He laughed. “Fred thinks we broke the record for how many will be in detention on Monday.”

I smiled. “All part of high school.”

He nodded. “Yeah, but enough of that. I say we get out of here.”

He reached out and took my hand as we walked to my car. “Can I entice you to coming over to my house?”

I chewed on my bottom lip and tucked a strand of hair behind my ear, watching him swallow hard. I knew that he was turned on by those small gestures, so I played them to my advantage to watch him squirm.

“Wow, I don’t think I’ve ever been to a high school dance where my date asked me to come back to his house.”

I leaned back against my car door, holding on to the handle behind my back. He reached around both sides of my waist and took my hands in his.

“Well, I’ve never asked a girl before, either.” He winked and leaned slightly closer to me. “But I think we better get out of here before I do something else in this parking lot to add to that list of firsts.”

“And what would that be?” I asked.

“Ripping your clothes off and making love to the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen.”

My heart jumped in my chest as he caused that slowly growing ache between my legs to become an inferno of desire, demanding to be remedied.

“I…I think we should probably get out of here.” I whispered, trying to form a coherent sentence that didn’t involve telling him to take me right there.

“Follow me, Miss Clark.”

I nodded. “Lead the way.”

The drive to his house felt like a never-ending torture. I smiled as he opened my car door and pulled me in for a kiss, causing me to lose my footing and fall against my car. I moaned into his lips which caused him to let out a low growl that purred against my lips.

“We better get this inside now,” he said, taking my hand after leaving my numbing lips.

We almost sprinted up to the doorway. He was cursing under his breath as he attempted to unlock the door with fumbling hands.
