"How'd it go?" Kourtney asks as soon as she answers Ashlyn's call.

"Probably as bad as it could have," Ashlyn groans.

"What?" Kourtney asks, shocked. "I thought she was ready to talk."

"She was," Ashlyn agrees. "Apparently I wasn't."

"What do you mean you weren't?"

"I can't seem to answer just one single question. I don't know how to tell her that the decision to stay away wasn't just my own."

"You have to tell her at some point."

"I know, and I will. I just wasn't ready to talk about it so soon. It's not even like it's a big deal. I don't know why I couldn't just say it." Ashlyn sighs.

"It's okay, Ash, everything will work out."

"I hope so."

The two fall silent.

"Anyway, is it okay if I come over?" Ashlyn nervously asks.

"Are your parents out of town again?"

"When are they not?" Ashlyn chuckles humorlessly.

"You can come over whenever you need to, Ash," Kourtney assures her. "My parents love you."

Meanwhile, Gina is waiting outside of the cafe for EJ to come pick her up. She saw the whole shitshow that was Ashlyn and Nini trying to reunite, and she can't help but laugh.

"What's so funny?" EJ asks out his window as he pulls up.

"Oh, nothing," Gina smirks. "Just watching nature take it's course."

EJ rolls his eyes. "Just get in the car."

Gina hops in the passenger side, switching the radio station as soon as she gets in.

EJ pulls out of the parking lot, starting to drive to Gina's house.

"Aren't you worried people at school are going to hate you?" EJ finally asks.

"They won't. At least, not more than they already do." She shrugs. "The cool thing about high school is that everyone is too insecure to say something that could be controversial."

EJ raises an eyebrow. "And you want to be known as controversial?"

"Not what I said, but yes," Gina agrees smugly.

EJ rolls his eyes. "You're such a brat."

"You like it, though," Gina points out.

EJ doesn't respond. It's not worth the argument.

"You're coming over, yeah?"

EJ grunts. "I thought you were seeing Grant."

"So?"

EJ stares forward and continues to drive for a second. "Yeah."

Gina remains smirking in the passenger seat.
