CW: Mentions of death, mentions of drinking and drugs

Theo:

Everything is fucked. Blaise can't come and I'm running late to go to Pany's. My father thought this was the perfect time to lecture me about all the proper procedures of a Pureblood. As if I give a fuck. He's lucky I'm even coming tonight. I grasped Floo powder in my hand

"I'll meet you there," I threw the powder onto the fireplace ground "Parkinson Manor"

I was instantaneously transported to Pansy's living room. There was no one there. It was almost too quiet. Eerily quiet. But soon after I started brushing my robes off I hear clicking on the tile. Pansy's mum comes into view.

"Good afternoon, Mrs. Parkinson Pansy said it was okay if I stopped by before the ball."

"Oh, how nice of you to come by" she pulled me close and kissed me on each cheek. "You are so tall, still playing quidditch?" She asks

"Yes, ma'am I am,"

"Theo you're here!" Pansy exclaims leaning over the balcony "Come on." She ushers me and her mother says

"Door open!" But truly she didn't care, she would rather Pansy fall pregnant and be able to force her to get married than for Pansy to never get married at all.

"Of course Mum." She says as I walk up the stairway, the stairs were marble and the railings were black with a lace-like trim. At the top of the first landing, there was a large portrait of some of her ancestors. I took myself up the rest of the stairs and Pansy greeted me by bringing me into her room which was a few hallways away.

June wasn't there as I suspected.

"Where's June?" I asked

"Oh she's just in the bathroom, she erm wanted to take a shower," Pansy said as she fiddled with her hands.

"What's going on?" I questioned.

"We, well, how was your day today, anything unusual?" she counters with another question.

"It was normal, my father complained, my mother coddled, I unpacked, Pans what is wrong?" I asked her once more hoping she wouldn't dodge my questions again.

"We had a visit" She hesitates for a moment and sits down on the couch next to her closet. "a few death eaters came. Right as we walked in the door and-" she was shaking now, I rushed over to her wrapping my arms around her.

"It's ok, Pans, you're okay."

"I know, I know I'm fine, erm apparently my father he owed them when he left he never became a death eater as he intended."

"No Pansy please tell me you didn-"

"Oh Merlin, no, I'm not a death eater, but they are- my father well," She's shaking more than ever now, and I pull her tighter, kissing her on the top of her head, dreading the words I know are soon to come out of her mouth. She continues

"I suppose they were just messengers in this instant, they tracked him down, they they killed him." She says the last part shakily and fast, trying to get it out of her mind.

"I'm so sorry, Pans." She almost shrugs.

"I mean yes, he's my dad, but I don't know him, never have, so what am I even supposed to be grieving? I don't know, I probably sound psychotic, it's just like- I don't know how to react."

"You are not psychotic, what your feeling is totally normal, I would react the same way. Do you need anything?"

"I need a drink," she says with a small laugh, leaning into me.

"I'm surprised your mum is handling it so well," I say aloud, in all honestly I'm just surprised she didn't reek of alcohol.

"Oh she isn't, she's as high as a kite right now." The door across from us opens and June is putting her hair in a towel, another towel around her body saying

"Were you talking to some-" She looks up after wrapping her hair in the towel and squeals a bit, turning around and slamming the door. Pansy giggles into me falling into my lap, her hand on her stomach. I laugh along with her, June is definitely the prude of the group

"Babe it's just Theo!" Pansy shouts as she stands up from the couch and heads over to the bathroom.

"And?" she yells back sarcastically.

"Do you even have clothes in there?" Pansy asks. There is shuffling from behind the door and a long sigh

"No," she says defeated. Pansy chuckles and comes back over to my side of the room and into the closet, she opens it and grabs a few items of clothing. She walks back to the bathroom and opens the door partially, she hands the out-of-sight June the clothes and somehow disappears into the bathroom.

It's like there is a switch that turns on and off when June is around. One minute she will be talking about something totally depressing and then June will come around and it all fades out of her mind.

If they don't work out, I have no hope for this world.

June and Pansy both walk out with cheeky grins on their lips and sit on the bed.

"C'mon Theo," June says and waves me over. I sit on the bed and we begin to chat, waiting for the others to arrive. Soon Charlotte, Draco, and Sage arrive. All three of their behaviors are off.

Sage who normally runs hot is wearing a large sweater even inside the heated house. Charlotte is constantly tying her hair up and taking it down, and Draco well, he's even more distant than usual.

"Okay so I altered the dress and we have like an hour to get ready so should we all get dressed?" June asks.

"Sounds good," Charlotte says dryly.

"Right, boys out," Sage says and shoos us away. The door is slammed in our faces and we turn to each other laughing.
