School was an absolute nightmare, as expected. The rumors were spiraling out of control and it seemed as though everyone had heard about my confrontation with Hailey. A few of the rumors were ridiculous, for example there was one going around that I had picked up my chair and threw it at Hailey and another said that I went on a rampage and started throwing books at everyone! It was preposterously ridiculous. Luckily I was good at fading into the background so that was what I did all week. I hated the attention I was given, it put so much pressure on my life that I didn’t need or want. It made me worried that I would mess something up and everyone would just leave me. My train of thought was interrupted by a beep from my phone, indicating that I had a text. I grabbed my phone and went back to lying on my bed like I had been doing all afternoon. I read the text and groaned.

Mother: There is a work dinner tomorrow night and as you know they expect someone from our family to be there and as your father and I are still away I would appreciate if you went in our place. Bring a friend and dates and dress nice, it’s a very formal occasion.

Me: I’ll go, see you next week

I would do it or my parents only, I hated these dinners because of the attention aspect and since it was such a high class event it was too much pressure. I quickly texted Penny.

Me: Penny are you free this weekend?

Penny: Yeah, why?

Me: Could you possibly come to a work dinner with me? My parents usually go to these things but as they are away they have requested that I go in their place. I have to bring a friend and we both have to have dates.

Penny: YES YES YES! I’ll come w/ u but who r our dates going to b?

Me: I don’t know, who do you think?

Penny: Try Adrian and I’ll try Caine?

Me: Ok

I sighed, Adrian was my best choice, all the other boys were idiots. I decided that calling him was the best option as texting took to long. He picked up after the third ring.

“Can't get enough of me can you?”

“Actually I can Adrian and you know it.”

“Then why are you calling me?” he asked.

“I need a favour.” I sighed.

“What kind of favour.”

“I kind of need you to come to a dinner as my date?” It came out as a question rather than a statement like I’d hoped.

“Elaborate please fiammella, I don’t have all day.”

“Fine. So my parents occasionally go to these dinners but since they’re away I have to go and I need to bring a date. It’s also very high class so you will need to dress nice.”

“Who said that I was going fiammella?”

“Please Adrian,” I begged, “All of your friends are idiots and Caine is going with Penny.”

“So if I go I will be your date, I will have to dress nice and act polite and pretend that I actually want to be there? And Penny and Caine are also going?”
