Chapter 34: Have You Caught A Cold Part 1

Seeing that there was only one bed in the room, they looked at each other, but no one said anything. Obviously, they didn’t know what to do.

Ye Sui spoke first to break the awkwardness, “There is only one bed.”

“Hmm.” Chen Shu nodded.

Ye Sui was distressed. She naively thought that if she and Chen Shu came here, they could still sleep separately. But the reality hit her hard.

Did she really have to sleep in the same bed with Chen Shu tonight? What should she do?

Ye Sui suddenly thought of something. “Maybe there is another mattress and quilt in the cabinet.”

She walked quickly to the front of the cabinet and opened it, but her beautiful fantasy was ruthlessly broken. There was no quilt or mattress; thus, the possibility of two people sleeping in separate beds was utterly smashed.

Chen Shu noticed Ye Sui’s smile a while ago was gone, and now she came back with a sad face.

Chen Shu said, “If it is really not feasible, let’s talk about it with the aunt.”

Ye Sui refused. “No, I can’t let my mother know.” The two were nominally husband and wife. If Yan Lan knew the truth, she would worry again.

She could only accept reality. Wasn’t it just a night’s sleep? And Chen Shu was good; she fully trusted his character.

Ye Sui glanced at Chen Shu. Maybe in his eyes, she was the one who would take advantage of him.

In addition, she also thought that Chen Shu had concerns toward her, that she would make advances in the middle of the night, combined with her previous deeds of taking advantage of his hand.

Ye Sui looked Chen Shu, somewhat embarrassed. “I move around a lot in sleep; do you mind sleeping with me?”

Chen Shu felt funny: “I have no problem, and you?”

“Of course. I don’t mind either,” Ye Sui said, in a hurry. The night was getting deeper and deeper. After showering, Ye Sui, wearing pajamas, did not dare to look at Chen Shu. She quickly got into the quilt and lay in it.

Chen Shu silently thought that just now, she was the one who said not to worry.

Chen Shu also opened the quilt and got in. He held out his hand and pressed the lamp switch. The light went out, and the surroundings were plunged into darkness.

Ye Sui was lying on her side. She curled up and faced the wall. Chen Shu lay on the bed with one hand behind his head and looked at the ceiling, his mood indiscernible.

In the same bed, two people had different thoughts running through their minds.

In the dark, their breathing was peaceful. Outside the window, the quiet moonlight was illuminating the floor and enlighten those subtle unknown thoughts.

Ye Sui suddenly said, “Chen Shu, are you asleep?”

“No.”

Ye Sui sighed, “I can’t sleep.” In this strange place, even if Ye Sui was familiar with Chen Shu—while lying beside him—she was not used to it.

Chen Shu did not speak. After a while, his voice sounded in the darkness. “Aren’t you tired after walking outside all day?”

When Chen Shu mentioned this, Ye Sui felt as if she was really quite exhausted, and when she thought about it, she felt sleepy. Ye Sui said softly, “Good night.”
