THE NEXT MORNING, Aspen had agreed to get a ride into school from Stiles, which meant she had to be dressed and ready by eight o clock. She was woken by her alarm at seven, giving her an hour to get herself ready for the day. Outfit-wise, she had decided on a royal blue checked skirt, an over-sized t-shirt with one of her favourite bands on it, 'Nirvana', and her usual leather jacket. She decided on a minimal amount of makeup, just a hint of lip-gloss accompanied by some mascara, and her hair was styled straight and she left it down. She put on her same pair of Doc Martens that she's worn every single day for the past year, and went downstairs to grab some toast before Stiles was pulled up outside her house.
"Asp, I know you're responsible, but please remember your curfew's okay?" said her mother from behind her.
"Especially on school nights, I know, don't worry." she finished her mother's sentence, taking a gulp of water.
Maggie Carter, mother of Aspen Carter, stood behind her daughter a couple meters away, and watched her with concern in her eyes. She examined her, seeing how she was living her life as a normal teenage girl.
Aspen Carter wasn't always an only child, she used to have a brother. His name was Ace, Ace Carter, he was only a couple years older, but he had died just over six years ago now. Aspen had healed, and always tried her best to not think about it, and with the help of some amazing friends, she was able to do so. In fact, he rarely crossed her mind anymore. He died in a car accident.
"I was going to say especially in a town like this, sweetheart. You heard the news that there was a body found in the woods, right?" said her mother.
"Yeah, yeah I did mom." said the younger Carter, turning around to face her mother. "I'm sorry about breaking curfew."
"It's okay dear." said the older Carter woman, giving her daughter a faint smile before the conversation was interrupted by the sound of a car pulling up in the driveway.
"That's Stiles, he's giving me a ride today." said Aspen, picking up her school bag and getting ready to leave.
"Have a good day at school, sweetie." said her mother, Aspen turned around to give her one last smile before opening the front door and setting off for her day at school.
...
"How was your date with Jackson?" said the Stilinski boy as Aspen hopped into the passenger seat of the jeep. His question made her eyes widen and roll her eyes at the boy.
"Danny was there, you ass. And I happened to have a great time. How was the hunt for Scott's inhaler?" the brunette asked.
"Well which do you want first, good news or bad news?" said the Stilinski boy.
