"sometimes life just slips in through the back door."

Grosvenor Square, August 1814.

Nola was quick to realize that she was with child this time around. Her morning sickness had made an unfortunate return and she began craving the weirdest foods together. Ones that disturbed Anthony to his core, and made him gag upon inspection.

Her breasts had become more tender within the past few weeks, and she finally came to terms with it early July.

She soon realized she must have gotten pregnant between late April to early may, meaning their children would not be far apart at all, and she was going to create quite a stir for her husband upon hearing the news.

When hearing of Marina Thompson's unfortunate situation, she wished to go visit the young girl and offer her words of advice, but she simply waited for Daphne's presence.

"Miss Thompson." Rose cleared her throat, presenting Marina to the room.

Nola stood as far away from Colin as possible, still not ready to be in his presence, but knew she had to talk to Marina- this was the only way.

"Thank you for joining us." Daphne greeted after Marina's subtle bow.

"I did not realize I had a choice." Marina responded, her eye quickly catching the present of the Viscountess, who sat down on the loveseat.

"My brother wished for an audience." Daphne explained, referring to herself and her sister-in-law. "And I wish to avoid any further scandal attached to my family's name. I will remain here as a chaperone with Lady Bridgerton." Nola nodded in agreement.

"Marina..." Colin began, walking up to the girl, "you must tell me that this Whistledown woman is mistaken," he begged, "what she wrote, it cannot be true."

"But it is," Marina replied blankly, breaking Nola's heart to wonder the pain Colin must be feeling.

"You are with child?" He gulped. "I do not understand. We were to be wed. You... you said you loved me." Nola looked sadly to Daphne, who refused to look at her brother.

"Colin, I hold you in the greatest esteem," Marina began to explain, but was quickly cut off.

"Esteem?" He snapped. "You are a cruel woman indeed to stand here and talk of friendly affection," Nola debated stepping in, but quickly understood it wasn't there place. She was here to observe, that's all. "as if you have not committed a grave sin against me."
