I dropped Lucas off at school and I pulled up the address of my new job. I had just passed the Los Angeles bar and I was going to be working in a law firm. The hours were going to be terrible at first but after a bit they will mellow out. Dad had decided to give Brad the old house and move in with us so he could take care of the kids.

This is it, I thought as I parked at an office building. I took a deep breath and fluffed my hair. No fear Evans, just go. I got out of the car and walked to the building. "Hello, I'm looking for Peña and associates" I asked the lady at the front desk. The law firm was weirdly named but hey, it's a job.

"Fourth floor, two doors down on the right." The lady at the front desk said.

"Thank you, have a nice day." I smiled and walked to the elevator. I hit the button and with a ping  the elevator opened.

"Wait!" A voice called. I hit the button and the doors opened back up. A man stepped in, "thanks. Wait Elle?" The man said. Suddenly I recognized him.

"Marco! It's so good to see you." I exclaimed. He looked like the same old Marco I knew back in high school. He looked happy and healthy- and is that a dad bod?

"Likewise, what are you here for?" He asked.

"New job," I smiled.

"Best of luck then," he smiled when the doors opened. "I hope we can meet up for coffee sometime." He said as he stepped out. He turned right and walked three doors down, I stifled a laugh and followed. He looked surprised when he saw me following him. "Are you lost?"

"Nope, this is Peña and associates right?"

"Yeah, wait you're the new employee! Louisa never tells me about things like this." Marco laughed.

"Hun," a lady came over and kissed Marco on the cheek. The lady was asian with long jet black hair and beautiful brown eyes. That's when I noticed the wedding ring on Marco's hand, that would explain the dad bod. "Oh you must be Elle Evans, I'm Louisa Peña." She stuck her hand out.

"Nice to meet you, I must say that I'm quite surprised that someone got Marco to settle down." I smiled.

"I'm still in shock too," Marco added. Louisa punched his shoulder jokingly. "Hey, I'm just saying you must be very special." Marco replied. He kissed his wife's forehead. They were the perfect couple and I was happy for him. As happy as he was I couldn't help but wish I had the kind of love they did.

"Let me show you your new office, I'm very glad you will be working with us." Louisa smiled. I followed Louisa as she walked through the office. "This is it," she gestured to a cute little office.

"This is perfect, thank you so much." I smiled.

"Wonderful," Louisa replied. "You can unpack today and get used to everything and everyone. But tomorrow is a full day of work," she said the last sentence seriously but with a bit of sarcasm. I couldn't help but laugh.

"Great," I smiled and Louisa walked off. I sat down at my desk and began to unpack.

When I arrived home that night, Dad was asleep on the couch with Skye in his lap and Lucas next to him. The TV was still on, they had been watching Spongebob. I turned off the TV and picked Lucas up slowly. I carried him to his room and set him on his bed, Still a heavy sleeper, I though.

"Hey honey," Dad said when I came back downstairs.

"Hey," I picked up Skye. "Talk more when she's in bed." I walked up the stairs and I was greeted by Dad's loud snore. Never could stay awake for long, I smiled and set Skye down on the bed. I kissed her cheek and stared at her. These moments were precious, soon Skye would be all grownup. I didn't want to think about when the kids grew up, I just wanted to enjoy the moment.
