Random Rants 5: Now with Furbys

Ok

So I have this board on Pinterest with Nimbus and it's things our characters would wear

I typically use it to help me with drawing ideas and thus I've been making more and more sections on it for different characters as I begin to establish a specific taste in fashion for them

Cameron's is one of the most fleshed out, it's very grunge, sorta e-girl vibes in a way

Eva's consists of lots of big cardigans and jumpers, a lil bit of dark academia in there I suppose

Auggie's very cottagecore - I just love the idea of this complete and utter goblin going cryptid hunting whilst wearing big flowy dresses

Jamie (from my comic) has lots of long skirts, in fact I think most outfits on there have long skirts. They're kinda goblincore but also not

And then we get on to Angel
Who has a ton of button up shirts as well as a few other things
All of these shirts have some sort of stupid patter on them
It's all very queer
And I remember one time seeing a text post about how queer people dress in things that have patters like bus seats, and someone also mentioned arcade floors in that conversation
Which is what led to me adding this:

And I've been implementing it in a drawing I've been doing recently

It's a redraw of my character sheet of my Pride characters
This is how it's looking so far

It's not shaded yet but you get the vibe
I love Gerald being the only white one in the group
Also Avery is gorgeous
And so it Blair

And this is what Angel looks like

You can tell where I got the inspiration for her shirt
And yeah
She's got a necklace of the autism awareness symbol

Bc although she strays from that idea a fair bit, Angel is supposed to be based off of me
And whilst I'm not autistic
I very well might have ADHD (I match a lot of the symptoms and my sister even separately came to the conclusion that she may have it herself)
Which is why I decided to make it so Angel has ADHD

I do plan to write an autistic character at some point, but I need to do more research on autism specifically before I do that as I want to make sure it is accurate

But anyways I think Angel's very passionate about issues regarding the mistreatment of neurodivergent people and thus has that necklace

Which means she definitely hates Sia (as she should)

If you don't know what that means, Sia made a movie about a non verbal autistic girl and fucked it up badly
She:
a) cast a neurotypical girl to play the protagonist
b) when that girl was upset and worried that people would think she's mocking autistic people, she made said girl continue to work on the movie
c) shows multiple scenes of restraint in the film which in real life has caused the death of many autistic people
d) agreed with someone who said non verbal autistic people are like inanimate objects
e) when several autistic actors expressed that she could've easily hired one of them she replied with "well maybe you're just a bad actor"
f) included frequent use of strobing lights in the movie which makes it less accessible
g) (I can't believe I'm on g) worked with Autism Speaks which (although they present themselves as a charity) are really an Autism hate group
h) there's almost definitely more but this situation is so much that I can't remember

I was originally going to suggest researching the situation for yourself
And now look at me
I told you most of the basics

This chapter wasn't meant to get so deep into all that
It wasn't meant to mention sia full stop
But oh well
If it means I'm educating someone on the situation then fuck it
