I know I'm not the only one who has seen those tiktoks that are like "roles I auditioned for vs roles I got"

And y'know
For the most part, I have no problem with them
In fact
I have no problem with the concept
Just a few of the roles these people auditioned for AND the roles they got were questionable

Like
I can be here like

Yea one time I auditioned for Alice but got the March Hare instead
Or
I auditioned for Dorothy one time but played Glinda instead

There is nothing wrong with any of those

But it's when I see a white girl staying she auditioned for Jasmine or something that confused me

Like good voice, you're very talented and could play that role

if jasmine wasnt a person of colour

I used Jasmine as an example bc that was the thing I saw just now and like she didn't get cast as her so good on the directors for not whitewashing a character who is blatantly not white

That would be like someone casting the engineer from miss Saigon as a white man-
Oh
(That's a joke in reference to the original cast, he was replaced by an Asian man eventually, it just came to mind whilst I was typing this)

Speaking of Jasmine and Miss Saigon
Did you know
That Lea Salonga (the original actress for Kim in Miss Saigon)
Does not only
Jasmine's singing voice
But Mulan's as well

K back to my rant

But I've also seen things of fairly skinny girls saying they auditioned for and got the role of Tracy (I think that's her name) from hairspray

I mean the main girl- I think her name is Tracy

But yeah, a big part of her is that she's not this skinny girl
And that's not me judging these girls for being skinny
It's just me recognising that they are not suitable for the role

Idk I just wanted to mention and rant about this bc
Well it is my rant book
What more do you want me to do?
