CHAPTER 77 - Greed Island-

Third-person POV

'This is bad! At this rate, Gon's really gonna die!'

Rin's eyes trembled at the sight of Gon being pummeled around like a punching bag. She felt the rush of urgency coursing through her veins and instinctively moved her legs, but the instant she did that, Rin stumbled to the ground with her head buried in the dirt. She shifted her heavy head towards her legs only to have her swollen eyes widened at sight.

"...?!"

It was faint, but she saw it, the slight movements of black matter within her shadows, and by the looks of it, it has the shape of a snake entangling the silhouette of her shades.

'That bastard... As if planting a bomb inside my stomach wasn't enough. He had to leave his minions around.' Rin gritted her teeth in seething anger. However, instead of letting her rage consumed her, Rin took a few seconds to organize her thoughts.

'Now that I think about it, he works with the shadow.' At the thought of that, the words Noveno once said to her flashed in her mind.

"Let's just say that his shadow resonates with mine. Does that satisfy your curiosity?"

'That doesn't really explain anything. But I guess he can manipulate a person's shadow for him to take over his target's body, just like how he controls the Nen beasts that are created from his shadows. It's clearly a Conjurer and Manipulator's technique. But to think that the Nen Beasts itself can possess someone allowing him to manipulate more than one person-- Damn, this guy's crazy strong.' Rin clenched her teeth before staring back at the woods.

'I hope Killua and Bisky are okay. But the one I'm concerned the most is--'

CRASH!!

'Gon!'

Her breathing hitched, just in time to see Noveno, who currently resides in Genthru's body, swat Gon. The boy slammed against a tree trunk several yards away before slumping to the ground. At the sight of that, Rin clawed the ground getting dirt in between her fingernails. Her arms and legs were still aching, but she tentatively tried to move even when her muscles screamed at her in response. Each slight movement squeezed the life out of her... it was suffocating. But the thought of Gon getting hurt or suffering something worse than that scared the shit out of her.

'My body's in a wreck from his beatings, but I can still put up a fight.'

'Still... I can't move, and I can't risk turning into a Super Saiyan. There's a high chance the bomb inside my stomach will detonate. Damn it! What should I do? If I leave things like this, Gon's gonna—' Rin shook her head from the thought.

'No, No, No. Don't go that far, Rin. Think! How should I get rid of this Shadow beast?' She glanced at her shadow before her eyes lit up.

'He didn't say anything about not using Nen!'

Shutting her eyes tight, Rin focused on the tingling sensation throughout her body. The translucent aura steamed out of her every pore and condensed around the foreign entity residing in her shadow.

'If only I can get rid of this thing-- I can do it!'

Rin was uncertain of what she was supposed to do with the Nen beast shackling her body through the shadow. But one thing she was sure of was that with excellent manipulation of her aura, she would be able to repel the dark forces shackling her. All she needed to do was focus and trust what would happen next.
