CHAPTER 88 - Chimera Ant-

Third person POV

As the sun began to dip below the horizon, casting the hills to face in warm, golden light, the openings seemed to come alive. The shadows within them danced and flickered, and the sound of whispers and murmurs echoed on the wind.

The hills with their peculiar openings were a place of mystery, a natural wonder that captivated the imagination and stirred the soul. As the day gave way to night, the openings seemed to grow darker and deeper, their secrets waiting to be uncovered by those brave enough to venture into their depths.

"The Dragon Ball is inside there?" Gon questioned.

"I'm not sure... there's only one way to find out," Rin replied as the three of them continued to stare at the cliff with peculiar openings.

As they entered through the gaping maw of the rocky hill, the three friends stumbled upon an eerie sight. Before them was an abandoned factory. Rusty metal pipes and tattered signs hung limply from the walls, warning of toxic chemicals and radiation.

"There's no telling when or from where they will attack, we have to stay alert," Killua warned as his eyes began scanning the vicinity.

"Yeah, got it. That other Chimera Ant completely concealed his presence." Gon frowned.

Rin only stood in silence before taking another step forward. "Let's go."

Gon, Killua, and Rin moved cautiously through the tunnel, their senses on high alert. They knew that they were surrounded by danger on all sides and that any misstep could be their last.

As they ventured further in, they began to notice strange equipment and machinery lining the walls, intricate tubing, and valves snaking their way through the massive rooms. The space was dimly lit, with only the occasional flicker of a broken light casting eerie shadows on the walls.

"What the hell is this place?" Gon's eyes were wandering throughout the space.

"Probably the dark side of NGL. A narcotics factory." Killua realized that they had stumbled upon a drug manufacturing facility.

"They're making more than drugs..." Killua grabbed a rifle from an open crater.

Rin began looking around before her eyes shifted to the map in her hands.

"This facility is the core of the NGL underground, right? Is it possible for the leader to keep the Dragon Ball?" She continued studying the map, unsure whether they were at the right place.

"If that's the case, wouldn't it be kept in a safe room? The boss' office... perhaps?" Gon suggested.

"But, hey. Don't you notice? This place is empty." Killua said and that's when the eerie silence dawned upon them.

"Then, the Chimera Ants must've wiped out the dark side of NGL."

That's when they noticed another presence approaching. Rin immediately shoved the map back into her bag pack and took her stance.

"There are still a few around."

Just then, emerging from the three tunnels before them, the three friends stumbled upon a sight that filled them with terror. Before them stood three monstrous creatures, each one a grotesque combination of different animals.

The first Chimera Ant was an insect-like man with the body of a man, and a centipede. Its sixteen arms flailed around and its muscles rippled with power as it snarled at the intruders.

The second Chimera Ant was an insect-like woman, with wings similar to that of a mosquito and a long tail trailing behind it. Its hissing voice echoed through the cave.
