The trio was high over the city, and Gon, with his customary gleeful grin, turned to his friends. "Alan-san is a kind person, isn't he? He even lends us his private airship for us to fly to NGL."
"Well, that's the perk of being the richest man on earth." Killua shrugged and then put his hands in his pockets before continuing. "Still... We have no idea what the situation is inside the NGL. There may very well be a swarm of giant Chimera Ants already, hunting humans down."
"If that turns out to be the case..."
"We'll be fine." As if on cue, Rin chimed in.

Still, she seemed to be gazing absently toward the horizon. She then closed her eyes before shifting her attention to the boys.
"If anything happens, I'll be sure to protect you guys."
How she expressed herself was indescribable. At least according to the boys. If there's one thing that they could sum up in one sentence, it would be;
'Rin looks as if she's on the verge of slipping away.'
Killua, on the other hand, was not the type of person to even consider the possibility as he wrapped his arm around her neck and rubbed a fist on her head.
"You mean, the other way around? You always get yourselves into trouble, gorilla-onna~"
"Who you calling gorilla-onna?!"
Gon couldn't help but laugh at his friend's antics, but he knew in his gut that something wasn't quite right.

That assumption had held him up until about 4 a.m.
Gon wakes with a start, instinctively darting up as visions blur with the dark shapes of his bed covers in front of him and the ghostly forms of moonlight patterns thrown over the far wall.
Just as he had feared, the sight of Rin's disheveled black hair and her body splayed on the ground with blood pooling around her would never leave his mind.
"Damn it..." Gon muttered as he rolled off the bed and decided to take a walk to clear his mind.
Just as he was about to walk around the airship with nothing else to do, Gon froze when he heard a sound from the room next door. It was slight, almost inaudible, but he still heard it.
There was a clear sound of sobbing. What's more, it's coming from Rin's room. As he hurried over, his heart sank at the sight of the black-haired girl flailing on her bed, cold sweat streaming down her brow.
"No... Don't..." Her heart was racing and her fingers were tightly gripping the duvet.
It looked like she was having a panic attack. How could she have one now? Before today, he would not have noticed it. Did that mean... Gon's eyes widened slightly. Did she have this every night? No, something is definitely wrong here. They've spent every night together, so if she's having one, either Gon or Killua would know about it.
