Third person POV

The salty sea breeze tousled Gon's hair as he stood on the weathered wooden planks of the port, staring out at the horizon where the ocean met the sky. The sound of seagulls echoed in the distance, and the rhythmic lapping of waves against the dock created a calming backdrop to the tension building within him.

Five long years had passed since Gon and Killua, once inseparable best friends, last saw each other. Life's unpredictable journey had led them down separate paths, but the promise of a reunion on this remote island was enough to rekindle the anticipation of their shared adventures.

Impatience crept in as Gon pulled out his phone, the device feeling surprisingly small and fragile in his hands. He scrolled through his contacts, finding Killua's name and pressing the call button. The phone rang, each tone echoing the seconds that felt like an eternity.

"I wonder where he is?" Gon muttered to himself, a mix of excitement and anxiety bubbling up inside him. He glanced around the port, hoping to catch a glimpse of his silver-haired friend emerging from the crowd.

After what seemed like an agonizing wait, Killua's voice finally crackled through the phone speakers. "Ah, Killua. Where are you? I arrived at the port half an hour ago."

"Sorry, Gon. I've got my hands full with Alluka here. I guess we'll be arriving in another ten minutes." Killua said with a mix of apology and urgency in his tone.

Relief flooded through Gon as he clutched the phone tighter with an awkward smile. "You sure are a doting brother, huh, Killua?"

"What'd you say--?! I don't have a sis-com!"

"I never said anything about that..." Gon had a sweat drop at his comment.

As Gon spoke with Killua over the phone, the salty sea air carried a subtle fragrance that captured his attention. Amidst the maritime scents, a delicate and familiar aroma wafted through the air, a scent that instantly transported him back to another time and place.

His amber-brown eyes widened as recognition set in.

'This smell...'

Cherry blossoms

Cherry blossoms.

The fragrance that had accompanied some of their most cherished memories together. A scent he never thought he would encounter again.

"Oi, Gon, what's wrong?"

Swiftly, Gon made a decision. "Sorry Killua, I'll call you back in a bit."

"Oi, Gon, You're hanging up on me? Gon!--"

With that, Gon ended the call and followed the enticing scent, weaving through the bustling port.

'There's no mistake!'

As Gon followed the alluring scent of cherry blossoms, memories long suppressed began to resurface. It was a fragrance he had promised himself to never forget, a scent that held both the sweetness of the past and the bitterness of loss. Yet, here on this remote island, the aroma grew stronger with each step, drawing him closer to a revelation he never expected.
