* Chapter Thirty-Eight *

[Quackitys POV] 

Tommy had black veins going up his arms and neck... The ends of his dirty blonde hair looked burned and had embers floating around it. His shirt looked dirty and his grey jeans were more ripped than before, he was wearing Techno's cape... He was sat on a rock looking up at someone... They were fully black and almost invisible, it looked like Tommy's shadow... but it couldn't be could it... He scrunched up his nose and let a few tears fall down his face, as he wiped them with his sleeve, the black figure lifted his the boy's chin to make eye contact with him... That's when they started singing...

Tommy's shadow began singing in a soft higher pitched voice 

"Don't stay awake, for too long
Don't go to bed, 
I'll make a cup of coffee for your head, 
I'll get you up and going out of bed"

"Yeah...", He shook his head and looked towards the floor as the tears fell down his face, his shadow sang the same words at the same time as him in attempt to cheer the boy up...

"I don't wanna fall asleep, I don't wanna pass away
I been thinking of our future cause I'll never see those days
I don't know why this has happened, but I probably deserve it
I tried to do my best, but you know that I'm not perfect"
The black shadow lifted his chin again to look him in the eyes and smiled warmly... The boy attempted to smile back but tears just rolled out of his eyes

"I been praying for forgiveness, you been praying for my health
When I leave this earth, hoping you'll find someone else
Cause yeah, we still young there's so much we haven't done
Getting married, start a family, watch your husband with his son"
He wiped his eyes again but kept looking sadly at the shadow

"I wish it could be me, but I won't make it off this bed
I hope I go to heaven, so I see you once again
My life was kinda short, but I got so many blessings
Happy you were mine, it sucks that it's all ending"
Tommy stopped singing and listened to the black figure, It knelt down in front of him and repeated the same words as before 

"Don't stay awake for too long
Don't go to bed,
I'll make a cup of coffee for your head,
I'll get you up and going out of bed" 
The blonde boy occasionally joined in but stopped to listen the second time 
"Don't stay awake for too long
Don't go to bed,
I'll make a cup of coffee for your head,
I'll get you up and going out of bed" 

Tommy started singing again...
"I'm happy that you're here with me, I'm sorry if I tear up
When me and you were younger you would always make me cheer up
Taking goofy videos while walking through the park
You would jump into my arms every time you heard a bark"
He let out a sad laugh after he threw up a big amount of black liquid, Wilbur started to float towards to him but Techno grabbed Wil's arm and shook his head 

"Cuddle in your sheets, sang me sound asleep
And sneak out through your kitchen at exactly 1:03
Sundays went to church, on Mondays watched a movie
Soon you'll be alone, sorry that you have to lose me"
Once again the black figure started singing and he joined in every now and again

"Don't stay awake for too long,
Don't go to bed, 
I'll make a cup of coffee for your head,
I'll get you up and going out of bed"
Tommy broke down crying, quietly... He fell into the shadows arms and held it tightly

"Don't stay awake for too long,
Don't go to bed,
I'll make a cup of coffee for your head,
I'll get you up and going out of bed"

There was a long pause while the shadow stood up, It stretched out its arm to help the boy up... This time Tommy sang all of the words with the black figure 
"Don't stay awake for too long,
Don't go to bed,
I'll make a cup of coffee for your head,
I'll get you up and going out of bed"

Tommy hugged the shadow tightly, The shadow hugged back...
"Don't stay awake for too long,
Don't go to bed,
I'll make a cup of coffee for your head,
I'll get you up and going out of bed
Don't stay awake for too long,
Don't go to bed,
I'll make a cup of coffee for your head,
I'll get you up and going out of bed"

I started crying... He was going through so much and nobody could help him. I saw Sam turn his head to hide his emotion. Phil and Techno looked sad, but they weren't crying... I assumed they had already seen him do this but Wilbur's reaction said otherwise. There were tears covering his face, he looked heartbroken, he wanted to help his brother but got stopped. 

"He has nobody..." Sam mumbled as he looked at Tommy who was still cuddling his own shadow...

[Tommys POV]

I hugged my shadow and cried into its shoulder. It was silent for a long while... until i heard someone...

"Tommy..." I heard a familiar voice softly say from behind me. I turned to see Wilbur, Quackity, Sam, Techno and Phil... Why where they all spying on me?! I felt a dust like feeling brush past me, It was my shadow... 

"N-No It's oka-" Before i could finish, the white eyed, black figure had turned into dust and vanished. I felt a pushing feeling in my chest as it went back inside me... I sighed.

"Tommy..." My brother repeated... Softer than before. "You need to tell us-" 

"No..." I sternly said. I saw a hand reach out to my shoulder but i moved backwards and tried to walk away. That's when i felt someone lift me up by the collar of my shirt... "H-HEY!" I shouted while they spun me around, It was Techno... "P-PUT ME D-DOWN DICKHEAD!"

"Tommy stop running away from your problems... I didn't teach you to do that, did i?" He put me down and stepped on the red cape i was wearing so i couldn't move

"..." I rolled my eyes and looked at the men... My eyes met Sams and i breathed heavily, do they not understand i want to be alone? Why are they even looking for me? what have i ever done for them to like me so much? 

"Tommy..." Sam got down on one knee so he was my size and put his arms out for a hug... I didn't move, I just looked him up and down... He nodded his head and i ran into him for a hug... I didn't cry though. I had already let out my emotions, with myself... 

"Tommy... Why did you run away?" Quackity asked, he looked broken. Just as i was about to answer i noticed his wings were heavy with water... He had no shirt or hoodie on and it was raining... he was covered in dirt and looked like he was about to collapse...
Instead of answering i walked over to him in silence and brushed my hand down his yellow wing, rain water fell onto the ground and he looked a me with a sad smile. I took my cape off  and clipped it around his neck... 

I hugged him, "I-Its okay to g-give up you kn-ow?" I mumbled 

He looked away for a second and looked back before giving me a small smile...

We both knew we had already given up... We are fighting for the things we want but sometimes it gets too much... Sometimes you have to let go... Sometimes when you think you can't do it, somebody has to be there. Weather you like it or not somebody is always fucking there. 

"C'mon we should go back home... You need sleep", Techno waved his hand towards them. 

everyone nodded in agreement and followed him... Just as i left the beach i turned and felt the cold wind brush past my hair... I let out a sigh before following the others.
