Sometimes you wondered how Fred always managed to find you when you were trying to study. No matter how well you thought you were hidden, he always found his way to you. About half an hour into studying, almost without fail, a mop of red hair would appear in your peripheral. That meant the beginning of the end. If you tried to ignore him, he toyed with the ends of your hair, fiddled with the pages of your book, and made himself into a general nuisance until you finally looked at him. Then he'd start talking.

Laughing. Grinning that stupid, maddening grin at you until you were smiling in spite of yourself. All you wanted to do was grab him by his tie and kiss the life out of him to shut him up. Not that you would, but you sure did think about it. Nothing else you tried had helped. Unfortunately, that meant you had to come up with new and creative ways to hide from him.

Lately, the deepest corner of the library at ungodly hours seemed to keep him at bay. He wasn't a stranger to being out after curfew or anything; he just couldn't find you. So, you had some peace; temporary peace, but peace all the same. You figured you might as well make the most of it before you had to find a new hiding place. And you did despite the sleep deprivation it caused. In the wee hours of the morning, bent over your books, the only way you could tell the time was by the slight burn in your eyes. It took until your candle burned out for you to find your way to bed. There was still about half left when a rusty haze appeared at your elbow. Of course, it had only taken him a couple weeks to find you.

"Found you" he said.

"Mhm" you hummed.

"Not very good at hide and seek, are you?"

"Mmm."

"You'll be all wrinkly by the time you're twenty if you keep squinting like that."

"Uh-huh." Without even looking at him, you knew he was giving you a mock pout.

"Can't ignore me forever, you know" he said. Of course, you couldn't. You didn't want to. You just wished he'd choose more convenient times to bother you.

It was quiet for a few beats. A long, thin finger prodded your cheek. He pinched gently, squishing the skin around a bit as he did. You had to bite your lip to keep from smiling. Then, your book began to slide away from you. You pulled it back. It didn't really matter, though. You couldn't recall what you'd been reading before anyway. Not when you could feel him sitting so close, touching you, smiling at the side of your face. You'd never thought it possible for someone to be so infuriating yet oddly charming until you met Fred Weasley. Even though you could feel annoyance prickling under your skin, you wanted to kiss him breathless. The sound of your (thankfully) closed ink bottle hitting the ground pulled you from your thoughts.

"You mind?" you grumbled, leaning to retrieve it.

"Not in the slightest" he said. Playful self-satisfaction saturated his words.

"I'm busy."

"Well" he swept up your book and deposited it under him with that aggravatingly handsome grin, "not anymore." God, he was annoying.

"Give it back" you said. He pretended to think for a few seconds before shaking his head.

"No" You couldn't tell if you wanted to hit him or kiss him breathless.

"Has anyone ever told you that you're a pest?" you asked.

"You've got it mixed up, my dearest little Y/N, I'm the best" You fought down the smile that threatened to surface.

"I think you're delusional" you snorted. "My book, if you would be so kind."

"Don't you wanna spend time with your Freddie?" If only. If he was 'your Freddie,' you'd be in his lap with your hands in his hair about now. You still wouldn't be getting anything done, but at least he couldn't look at you like that.
