"Shit, we went too long!" you cursed, adjusting your tie and redressing as quickly as you could.

"Don't worry about it love" Cedric replied and placed a hand on your thigh gently. You jerked away, startling him and he pulled away without a word. He'd started to mean it when he called you pet names. He'd started to linger at your touch. And Cedric's change of heart hadn't escaped your notice "I'll see you later" you gave a small smile and rushed out of his dorm.

Hurrying to your class, you arrived just in time to not be given a tardy. You took a seat beside the Fred and slumped down in your chair, sighing "Close one" he giggled before taking notice of your demeanor "Everything alright Y/N?" you shifted uncomfortably.

"Fred say... say you had a bit of an arrangement with someone. And you think they're starting to fall for you in more than a physical way? What would you do?" he pondered the question, tapping slightly on the desk.

"I suppose it depends on how you feel about this person. Who is it anyway?" Fred rolled his eyes at your silence "A Hufflepuff I assume?" he continued to guess. "Jay? Damon? No, he isn't your type" Fred kept at it "Abbott? Lan-" you cut her off in irritation.

"Merlin's beard Fred, it's Diggory!" your yelled whisper caused her jaw to drop slightly "Diggory? Is he even capable of having feelings?" she returned your whisper yell. "Of course he is! He's not as bad as everyone says he is, Fred. You've just got to get to know him."

Fred's eyebrows furrowed and he spoke "There's your answer then, ask him out" your eyes widened and you shook your head "Absolutely not!" you stammered. "And why not? Your eyes just had hearts in them speaking about him. And if he feels the same way then you really should just go for it, despite what I may think of him."

Rolling your eyes, you told her the reason this was such an issue "Look Fred, relationships...aren't my cup of tea. Diggory's a good person behind what everyone sees but to commit to being with him? Dear stars, I couldn't do it. I much prefer to limit our interactions to the occasional study sessions and frequent...other sessions."

He looked as if he was at a loss for words "Whatever you say, Y/N. As long as you're happy, I'm happy." But are you happy? Of course I am, don't be daft, you scolded yourself. The thought however sat, waiting, in the very back of your mind.

The next time you were with Diggory, it wasn't as enjoyable as usual for you. Not for lack of skill because you thoroughly and genuinely thought the boy knew his way around your body. It just didn't feel right when there was something else there ─ something you couldn't want "Y/L/N?" Cedric questioned, sensing something was wrong.

"What is it?" you snapped, he'd never admit it but you saw the hurt in his grey eyes. Those beautiful grey eyes "Are you alright? You're acting odd" a laugh escaped your lips, filled with hostility "I'm just peachy, Diggory. Now hop off, we did what we came to do, get out of my dorm."

A strand of his brunette hair fell over his forehead and he sat up, still shirtless. "No" your face hardened and you yelled at him "No? What the hell do you mean no?" Cedric hissed back at you "I mean no. I care about you, you can't just tell me to piss off because you're having a bad day!"

Oh, that's rich "Just watch me! You may care about me, but I don't care about you. In fact, I don't think we should even do this anymore!" tears clearly stung his eyes but Cedric just looked at you in angry defeat "If that's what you want, then fine. See you around, Y/L/N" you huffed and turned your back as he left.

"Goodbye, Diggory."

The time following was soaked in undeniable tension. Fred encouraged you to forget about Diggory and you truly were trying. Perhaps you just missed getting laid, but Diggory wasn't the only man in the world. Boys are lining up to be with you, you're not losing anything - it's just sex.

That's what you chalked it up to until you entered the Hufflepuff common room. Your heart sank to your stomach when you saw Diggory.

He was talking to Cho Chang, which had never bothered you before. What bothered you was the way that whore twirled her hair and chewed on her lip, giggling at his every word. Without thinking, you stormed up to Diggory and Chang, a bitter taste of jealous rage in your mouth. They both turned to greet you but the words left your mouth before you could stop them.

"Piss off, Cho. Take your slutty flirting to someone who isn't mine" you glared and Cedric looked at you in shock. Cho's eyes squinted angrily but she didn't try to retort - a perk of being one of the more respected Hufflepuffs. She shoved past you and Cedric grabbed your arm, pulling you into another room.

"What the fuck was that, Y/L/N? You broke up with me" he yelled "We weren't even dating!" you scoffed. Cedric buried his head in his hands out of frustration and looked up at you but his face surprised you. He looked hurt, not angry.

"Make up your mind Y/N."

For the first time, you called him by his first name back "I made up my mind a long time ago, Cedric. I'm so sorry for the way I've treated you. I really do like you and I'm willing to do better for you" Cedric gulped and he took your chin in his hand "Thank merlin, I thought I'd have to settle for Chang. I like you too. a lot" he laughed.

You slapped his arm and scoffed "Shut up and kiss me before I actually do break up with you - I can do that you know, now that we're - oh!" he didn't waste a second before cutting you off and bringing his lips to yours. He kissed you deeply, much more passionately than all the times you'd snuck around. speaking of sneaking around...

"Cedric?" you smiled with your head against his "Yes?" he returned. "Take me somewhere private. I'm going to make sure anyone who lays eyes on you knows you're taken" he chuckled happily and took your hand.

"Let's go then, darling."
