Walking into the back room of Scoops, I place my bag on the small table, feeling a pair of arms wrap around my waist along with a pair of lips against the curvature of my neck.

"Hi Steve," I giggled, turning around in his arms.

"Hi baby," He says, pecking my lips. "I missed you."

"I missed you too." Playing with the ends of his hair, I see a small smile grow on his face.

"Do you have a shift tomorrow?" He asks me, squeezing my sides.

"Sadly no." I sigh. "I took the day off so the party and I could surprise Dustin when he gets home."

"Can you come over tonight?" Steve asks, wiggling his eyebrows.

"Why yes I can." I say, placing a peck on his lips.

"Hey dingus," Our co-worker, Robin, shouts from her place at the register as the small bell in front rings loudly. "your children are here."

Groaning, Steve removes his hands from my waist, trudging his way to the sliding window, causing me to miss his warmth.

"Again?" Steve sighs, flopping his hands onto the counter top. "Seriously?"

Walking next to Steve, I see Mike glaring at him before slamming the bell one more time.

Gesturing my hand, the kids walk into the back room as Steve opens the back door for them with an eye roll, to go to the movies, a process that's been happening each day since the kids found out about the back door.

"Come on," Steve gestures, pushing the kids out of the back room. "come on."

"I swear," He sighs, placing his hand on the handle. "if anybody hears about this—"

"We're dead." The kids groan as I make my way next to Steve, pulling him into the back room.

"I'm too young got this." He groans, grabbing his ice cream scooper as he makes his way into the front.

Letting out a laugh, I make my way into the front, following behind Steve as we start scooping ice cream.

A few minutes later, the lights all around Scoops flicker off, causing Steve, Robin and I to share a look of confusion.

"That's weird." Steve mumbled, making his way to the light switch, flicking it on and off.

"Dude," I say, narrowing my eyebrows. "that's not helping."

"Yeah," Robin nods. "that isn't going to work, dingus."

"Oh, really?" Steve asks, raising an eyebrow at us and flickering the light switch rapidly between his pointer and middle finger.

With one last flick, the lights appear back on, causing Robin and I to share a look when Steve plastered a smug smile onto his face.

"Let there be light." He shrugs as we continue to scoop ice cream for hungry costumers.

The next morning, after spending the night at Steve's, I make my way into the house, finding the party lined up against the fireplace.

"You're late." Lucas whispers, narrowing his eyes.

"Sorry." I say, settling next to El.

"You were at Steve's weren't you?" Mike asks, raising an eyebrow.

Before I could answer the door clicked open, a mumble of profanities slipping out of Dustin's mouth as he carries his bags into his room.
