Chapter Seventy-Eight

Jenna kind of just stares into her now empty wine glass. No one blames her for basically inhaling the contents. It proved difficult to tell her everything, but they got through the important stuff. John. Isobel. Vampires. Werewolves. Witches. Psychic. Doppelgängers. Klaus. The stuff she needs to know. The stuff Cassandra believes she should have known from the beginning.

"When I was little, your mom used to tell me bedtime stories," Jenna admits. "Stories about vampires. I never thought that what she said could be true" she looks up at the twins and then at Caroline who gives her a small smile. "Are you sure?" She asks. "Because I've known you girls forever"

"Yeah," Caroline tells her.

"And you're a vampire?" Jenna asks. Caroline nods. Jenna looks at Bonnie. "And you're a witch?" Bonnie nods, Jenna turns to Cassandra. "And a psychic" Cassandra nods in agreement. "Who else knows? Jeremy?"

"Yeah" Cassandra answers.

"John?" Jenna asks. Elena nods.

"We were just trying to protect you" Elena adds.

"Protect me?" Jenna whispers as she runs her fingers through her hair.

"I'm so sorry" Elena counters.

"I know it's a lot of stuff to process" Cassandra adds.

"No, girls...I am the one who's supposed to be protecting you two and Jeremy" Jenna argues, getting upset.

"I know, but there's nothing that you could have done. There's so much more to it..."

"No, this is-- this is so...I don't know how...it's..." Jenna cries, which just upsets Cassandra and Elena too.

"Jenna, if you want to go back to blissful ignorance, then I can do that for you" Jenna looks at Cassandra. "I can lock away this conversation and it will be like...like it never happened" Jenna looks down.

"No" Jenna whispers and shakes her head. "No" She adds firmer. "Thanks, for the offer, but...I need to know this"

"And we'll answer any questions and make sure you are prepared" Caroline adds. "Right?"

"Of course" Bonnie agrees. Jenna nods a little and then taps her wine glass.

"I think this calls for something significantly stronger" Jenna offers and then stands from the seat.

"Jenna" Elena starts. "About John..." Jenna pauses a little. "And Isobel" Jenna nods.

"Miranda and Grayson raised you" Jenna argues, stopping Elena. "That's all that matters"

Cassandra, Elena, Bonnie, Caroline and Jenna arrive at the Grill and look at the band that has set up a small stage to perform on. Jenna sees Alaric as he heads for the bar.

"I need a drink" Jenna offers and goes after him. Cassandra smirks a little and tucks her hands into her jacket pockets.

Caroline turns to Matt as he passes them.

"Hey, Matt" She greets. He doesn't answer and walks past her.

"Things just got real awkward" Bonnie comments. Jenna joins Alaric at the bar, he turns a little surprised to see her.

"Jenna" He greets. She lets out a breath and then kisses him. Alaric is surprised, but not unhappy about it. She then pulls back.

"The girls told me everything" She whispers. "I'm sorry I was so pushy" He shakes his head and smiles at her. Cassandra and Elena watch on from where they stand.
