"are you feeling better?" changmin asked, kneeling down beside chanhee's bed as the boy slowly propped himself up against his bed frame.

truth be told, changmin himself had just woken up and the second he saw that he and chanhee were almost holding hands, he had to bite his tongue to stop himself from yelling, immediately taking his hand away and pacing the room even though changmin knew that it wasn't that big of a deal.

while he was walking around, he saw the little giraffe keychain he had bought for chanhee sitting by the desk (that changmin assumed was chanhee's seeing as how he had neatly stacked music scores next to papers filled with numbers). the little giraffe was placed right by the computer screen and changmin's heart couldn't help but beat faster at the thought of chanhee remembering him every time he looked at his screen. as he continued looking at the table, he found that behind the stacks of papers there was a photo frame, so well hidden that if changmin weren't looking so intently at all of chanhee's things, he wouldn't have even noticed it.

but before his curiosity had gotten the better of him, he heard movement from the bed and sure enough, chanhee had woken up, his hair slightly disheveled as he rubbed the sleep out of his eyes.

"you're still here," chanhee muttered, taking his phone and checking the time. "doesn't your major usually do some random showcase every other sunday? why are you still here?"

changmin's eyes widened, taking out his own phone and gasping at the time. "h-how'd you know that?" chanhee rolled his eyes, folding his arms and putting his own phone away.

"because of the history between my major and yours, we know your schedule the best so we know how to avoid you guys," chanhee explained, sighing as he waved changmin away. "now, go for your showcase-"

"but who will take care of you?" chanhee groaned, getting out of bed and standing up.

"as you can see, i'm perfectly recovered and besides, i have an appointment as well that i need to head to so go for your showcase because i need to get changed and i'd much rather not have you around to see that." changmin felt his ears turn red at the thought, nodding his head and grabbing his bag as he hurried over to where the other dance majors were.

when he got there, he noticed that not everyone had arrived yet and he thanked the universe for having choi chanhee remind him because if the top scorer out of the dance majors as well as the dance captain were to be late, he knew that their instructor would not let him off too easy.

"did you oversleep or something?" juyeon asked, approaching changmin and passing him a bottle of water as he tried to catch his breath. "you good?" changmin nodded, smiling and showing him a thumbs up as he put his bag and the water down onto the ground and began stretching.

"is the demon not here yet?" changmin asked while rotating his shoulders. juyeon shook his head, surveying the area just in case he was wrong and had completely mistaken their instructor to be someone else. "chanhee really saved me from his wrath today," changmin said.

"getting close to him now i see," juyeon teased, slightly nudging changmin but before changmin could say otherwise, their instructor came, yelling at all of them to get ready.

"you're late," chanhee said, showing his phone to sunwoo who gave him a sheepish smile before sitting down before the boy. "what did you need help with anyways that you'd message your senior?"

"still can't believe you really asked me 'who's this'. why didn't you save my number? aren't i your favourite high school junior?" chanhee stood up slightly and smacked the top of sunwoo's head with his hand causing the younger boy to pout slightly and massage the targetted area. "anyways, i need your help because i uh, this sounds very disgusting i know but i need your help to make a song for my uh, boy...friend."

chanhee stared at sunwoo and took note of how his ears had turned a slight red as he averted any sort of eye contact with him. "who'd you con into dating you?" chanhee asked, shy blushing sunwoo disappearing and instead being replaced by the sunwoo that chanhee knew with sunwoo glaring at him and kicking his leg under the table. "hey, need i remind you that you're the one who asked for my help."

sunwoo sighed, running a hand through his hair as he unlocked his phone and showed chanhee a picture of the boy he was dating. "that's ju haknyeon. he's a culinary major so you wouldn't know him because you stem majors are so high up there-"

"you're technically a stem major with your sports science aren't you?"

"not the point. anyways, this is him and i don't know... he's helped me a lot so i wanted to at least do something for him you know?" chanhee zoomed in on the picture of sunwoo and the boy that he now knew to be called haknyeon.

despite having had known sunwoo since they were in high school, he had never really seen sunwoo that happy and a part of him couldn't help but wonder if relationships like the one sunwoo had with haknyeon were that miraculous to bring about such immense happiness. and, when chanhee looked at sunwoo as he continued gushing about his boyfriend, he felt as though sunwoo radiated joy, something that chanhee hadn't really seen before.

were people in love that sickeningly happy?

chanhee had never experienced it before and it shocked him immensely because how could someone else make an individual become that overwhelmed with cheer? or was it just anomalies that felt that way when they were in love? chanhee didn't know - all he knew was that he had never seen love have such an effect on someone before.

"will you help me?" chanhee snapped out of his thoughts, sunwoo looking at him with such bright eyes that chanhee felt that he would've gone blind. "i just need some slight help coming up with the beats and some harmonies-"

"you'll pester me until i say yes won't you?" sunwoo nodded, smiling. "fine then but i don't like wasting time so we should get started on it." sunwoo let out a small 'yes' before taking out from his bag the different lyrics he had already written and, as chanhee listened to him go on and on about the different versions he came up with, his mind couldn't help but wonder if it was changmin's love towards him that made him so needlessly happy regardless of how he treated him.

author's note:

writing this alongside prism makes me so confused because the same people have such different personalities for both stories and my brain is going into overdrive keeping their respective characterisations ;-;;

also, just in case but stem = science, technology, engineering, mathematics :D

anyways, how was this chapter?
