chanhee stood outside the bakery, still half asleep as he tried to stifle a yawn. he continued scrolling through his phone mindlessly, trying to make it seem as though he were busy when in reality, he really wasn't.

ji changmin wasn't late — choi chanhee was just extremely early and because of his insane punctuality, he couldn't even bring himself to drop the boy a message for the fear that he'd seem too eager.

"why the fuck did i come so early?" chanhee asked himself, sitting down on a bench nearby and letting his head lean back on the bench, the world turning upside down for a moment.

while his vision was turned upside down, he saw a boy walking towards him and eventually, as he got closer, his face finally registered in chanhee's mind, the math major standing up and instinctively fixing his black mask.

changmin walked over with a bright smile, waving at chanhee and walking faster to meet him. "did you wait long?" changmin asked, chanhee immediately noticing the penguin keychain hanging from his sling bag. changmin, having had followed chanhee's line of sight, found that he had been staring at the penguin and unclipped him from his bag. "little nyu came along too!"

"why're you holding him like that?" changmin held the penguin keychain with both hands, his thumbs holding onto the sides of the penguin to make sure that he doesn't fall.

"he's precious so i don't want to drop him!" changmin said, clipping the penguin back onto his bag. "have you been to this bakery before?"

"no, i don't go to bakeries often."

truthfully, chanhee never took it upon himself to eat outside, only doing so when someone else invited him. so to say that he didn't visit bakeries often would've been an understatement.

chanhee disliked eating outside.

apart from the fact that he had to take off his mask and reveal how he looked, he hated the sheer amount of people that were just there and although they could've been minding their own business, chanhee still couldn't help but feel overwhelmed every time he made accidental eye contact with someone else that lasted for more than 0.5 seconds. outside, he constantly felt as though someone was judging him, watching his every move and thinking to themselves that he was strange or something along those lines.

but when changmin smiled and gently took hold of his hand, he felt an odd sense of reassurance dawning upon him and he followed the boy into the bakery.
