After who knows how long, I wake to find myself now lying in the furthest corner of the room. Phoenix is in the opposite corner.
I try to move and discover that I can mobilise more easily given that my wrists were now cuffed to two longer chains that where looped through an iron hoop mounted to the wall. My ankles were bound together with rope but there was a little leeway between them which was a slight improvement.
Phoenix was in similar position though his binds were shorter and seemed more firmly applied. I assumed that was to do with his size. He was still out for the count and as he just laid there, I couldn't help but to drink in his alluring features.

Despite being sound asleep his eyebrows were slightly furrowed as though he was disapproving something. His nose was broad but not large and had a small mole on the right side that moved whenever he smiled, I found it quite adorable. His legs, despite being much longer than mine were curled bent in a way that reminded me of how my cat used to sleep. His breaths were steady and his hair was slightly dishevelled from where they had clearly struggled to get him on the floor. Had I not been bound I would have most certainly stroked my hand through it, it looked so soft and fluffy.

'Are you one of them weirdos?' His raspy voice asks, startling me. Had he been awake the whole time?
'Excuse me?' I chuckled.
'Are you one of those oddballs who like to watch people sleep?'
By the way Phoenix was smirking, he knew I'd been studying his physique for a while. Lost as to what to retort with and knowing I was literally speechless, Phoenix spoke again.
'You talk in your sleep, you know?'
I scoff and deny the playful allegation.
'Yeah well you snore' I throw back. He arches his neck back and blinks his eyes in a slow, dramatic manner.
'You wound me!' He gasps, flicking his head up like the drama queen he was feigning to be.
I giggle at how silly he was being. It was lovely to mess around.
Phoenix laughed soon stopped when the both of us heard voices outside the door. We were sobered from our moment of humour and reminded of where we were.

'Phoenix?'
'Yeah baby?' His eyes were fixated on the door as though he was ready to pounce on whoever walked through.
'Where actually are we?'
'It's a place called The Nunnery,' He shuffled himself into a sitting position, his expression solemn and ashamed that he knew of the place.
'It's a place where the women in Jordan's type of work are brought to be tamed and trained so that they can-' He didn't finish the sentence and I wasn't entirely sure if I wanted him to.
'Be sold off?' I asked.
'Yeah, Bree is renowned for her ability to break the women who try to escape the dealers and  brothels. Jordan and his associates are into some deep shit,' He said looking towards the door.
'I guess he has brought me here for the same reason?' I ask solemnly.
'I assume it's because we both ran from him and he is trying to teach us both a lesson. He will move to another one of his hideouts and once it's had the security to keep us inside, installed we will most likely be moved then'.
'Thank you, Phoenix'
He looks perplexed.
'For what?'
'For looking out for me the way you have'.
'I always will. I care for you Adara,' His eyes met mine and had we not been tied at opposite sides of the room, I am sure I would have pressed a tender kiss to his lips.

'Can I ask you something? You don't have to answer if you don't want to' Phoenix asks looking adorably inquisitive.
'Go on'
He took a deep breath, studying my expression before he dared ask whatever was on his mind.
'How did Jordan take you? I only ask because if your family knew about what he did to you whilst you were with him, I'm amazed they let you anywhere alone'.
As he spoke, the reverie of when I was first taken flooded to the front of my mind. An uncontrollable tear trickled down my cheek as I thought about my family. I hadn't thought about them for a while and the guilt for not having done so was immense.
'No, no I didn't mean to make you cry darlin' He rushes out. He was so consumed by his fear of upsetting me that Phoenix had forgotten he was tethered to the wall and groaned as the consequence for trying to hurry towards me left him with a headache.

Through my tears I couldn't help but to chuckle as he pressed his cheek against his shoulder.
'I thought you were tough and yet that wall just knocked you out haha' .
I thought it best to make light of the conversation. He hadn't upset me, I just missed home and wished with all my heart that I hadn't opted to go the way home that I had that night.
By his deep chuckle I knew he felt better.

We fell silent for a brief moment and I manage to compose myself. I decided to tell him what happened on the night that I was taken simply because I was curious about how I would feel after finally saying it out loud.
'I'd finished working late at the clinic, I'd decided to walk home. It'd had been so busy and so bloody hot, I just had to be out in the fresh air,' I began, the vision of the Infirmary as clear as day in my minds eye.
'Addie, you don't have to-' I cut him off.
'No, please let me just...' I take a shuddering breath.
'Please just let me tell you, I need to say it all out loud'.
Phoenix stared at me for a moment before giving me a nod to continue.
I took a deep breath to steady the uncontrollable trembling wracking through my body and then continued...
