LILLIAN COX'S POV:

"Hey, do we want to go down to Hogsmeade tomorrow?" Mary asked as she smoked a cigarette on the lounge in the Gryffindor common room.

"Can't. Cox put us in detention." Sirius glared,

"You started it." I protested,

"When are you two not in detention?" James sighed.

"Sundays." We said in sync.

"Just skip." Marlene shrugged,

"Slughorn has a personal vendetta against us."

"Yeah. I'd have one against you both too."

"It's just Sluggy." I waved a hand. "He's as soft as his stomach."

"I saw a photo of him when he was at Hogwarts." Lily said, "He was quite good looking."

"Slughorn was good looking!? Evans, I know your taste in men is revolting—"

"Real funny, Lillian." James scowled,

"Uh oh, full name. Someone's not happy." Peter threw his head back in laughter.

"Revolting? Really? I'm literally the best looking man at—"

"Professor Ferox took that award." Marlene hooted,

"Oh, I miss him!" I sat up,

"What a fine man he was," Mary mumbled, she and Remus sharing glances.

Our laughter was broken by someone standing above me. I jolted up when I saw Evan. "Rosier, what do you want?"

"Regulus is back." He said, glaring at someone. I followed his gaze to Sirius who had an unreadable expression on his face. I stood up, fixing my skirt before looking over at everyone, "I'll see you tomorrow? Hogsmeade?"

"What about detention?" Sirius asked,

"Slughorn can wait." I grinned,

"Where something nice!" Mary called out and I shot her a thumbs up before my expression went cold as I walked over to Evan. "How is he?" I mumbled, folding my arms over my chest as we exited the common room.

"Not good." He wrung his wrists, "I think something awful happened."

I swallowed, "How so?"

"He's limping." Evan folded his arms over my chest.

"Oh."

"Come on." Evan led me to his dorm, the one he shared with Regulus.

Wren was bent down beside him, cleaning cuts on his legs but he seemed to refuse to take off the bandage on his left arm. I grabbed my wand, quickly casting the healing spell over him, cleaning the blood and cuts, turning them into no more than silver streaks.

He glanced up at me but he said no more. I walked over to him, hoping he'd want a hug but he shrugged me off him. I raised my eyebrows, stepping back. Lucinda gave me a worried look, which I returned.

"Reg, what's wrong?" I swallowed,

"Nothing." Regulus said sharply,

"Come on," Evan scoffed, "Don't lie to our faces, Black, look at yourself!"

"Would you fucking bugger off? I didn't ask for any of your pity!"

He was just a snake that knew no better than to bite. He was just scared.

"No one is offering you pity," I swallowed, "You were gone for days, Regulus! We were scared!"

He lunged and sank his venom-dripping fangs into me, "You weren't fucking worried, Cox, you ran away -- it's all your fault!"
