This'll be based off of the fictional disease, Hanahaki Disease. If you are uncomfortable with that, I'm sorry to say this story isn't for you. Also, Kelsey and the reader will be 13-14 in this. And this won't be a shipping story. (Also the former crush will be a girl).

"W-what do you mean you don't want to date me...?"

You clenched your books to your chest and
did a nervous look full of anxiety shaking slightly. You looked into Melissas eyes one last time before trying to put yourself back together like a puzzle. "I-I...I think I should go..."You said quickly before dashing out the hallway away from the stares you didn't even notice, "Please don't happen...Please don't happen..."You repeated in your head running faster hoping a teacher wasn't there.

"I don't understand..."Melissa mumbled holding onto the flower she wanted to give you tightly standing there in the hallway.

And you couldn't agree more with what Melissa said, you couldn't understand either why you couldn't love, but that was just what you wanted to believe.

When you were only 11 years old, you were diagnosed with Hanahaki disease. A disease where you vomit out flowers because of one-sided love. Ignoring your symptoms of Hanahaki disease was your biggest regret in life, the day you threw up those flowers almost felt like a blur to you but at the same time you remembered it.

But you couldn't remember everything about that day, it was your darling that you couldn't remember. The one that you crushed on, the person that didn't love you back, you didn't remember how they sounded, how they looked, you didn't even remember if they were a boy or a girl. But they felt so dear to you, your doctor said that there was another way to cure you from the disease and that was if the person you fell in love with returns your feelings you would be cured and live the happily ever after you dreamed of living like the princesses and princes in the fairy tails you loved so much.

But, that option was impossible. Your crush had passed away days after your diagnosis so returning the feelings was never going to happen. So your parents got you the surgery to remove the plant growing in your lungs that was slowly killing you. Happily ever after, right?

You were so far was being correct, your feelings of romantic attraction were gone forever, you were never going to find someone new. Your parents will never see you propose to your boyfriend or girlfriend or them propose to you, cause you will never love again. Heck, the kids at school even thought you were cursed and stayed away from you cause they thought they'd be cursed as well.

You looked around the school for a place to hide from Melissas friends, you hid in a bush behind the school. You couldn't help but curl up in a ball and cry, you knew Hanahaki disease happened when someone feels one sided love, ever since you got it. Not only were you unable to feel romantic feelings for others you feared someone having feelings for you because you didn't want their romantic feelings to fade away forever like yours.

"Hey! Why are you crying?"

You heard a girl ask you coming to sit next to you, you wiped your face and looked at her, "U-uh..."You choked nervously not knowing if you should tell her the truth. "I haven't really seen you around, are you new here? My name's Kelsey Pokoly, and why are you crying?"The girl said, "I-I'm (Y/N) (L/N)...And...Will you keep this between us?"You said, you didn't really know why you asked if it'll be just between you and Kelsey, almost the whole school knew about the fact your chance at feeling romantic feelings was impossible.

"Of course"Kelsey smiled, you took a deep breath and explained the disease you were diagnosed with when you were younger and what happened awhile ago but kept Melissa anonymous to save her from humiliation. After a few moments of an 'awkward' silence, Kelsey sighed and looked at you. "Hey, it's okay. It's not your fault you didn't like her that way, or if your crush didn't like you that way either...You wanna know a secret?"Kelsey asked, you nodded coming closer to her, "I got it too...I know how it feels"Kelsey comforted. "What? You had it too? When did you get it?"You asked, "When I was only 10...I don't remember anything about who I crushed on...But the only thing I know about them is...She was a beautiful girl that just didn't feel the same way about me, that's it...I've tried asking my dad but he didn't wanna talk about it so I just gave up trying to figure who she was, hoping to maybe get my memories of her again"Kelsey said sadly.
