It has been a 2 weeks since I started highschool. Since then, I've had a total of 4 weird headaches, and sympotoms get worse everytime.

Last night I couldn't sleep. All of my thoughts kept me up. So, when I was walking to the subway to get to school, I didn't notice the bright yellow taxi coming in my direction. They slammed their brakes and screamed at me. I couldn't move, I was so paralyzed in fear.

"Hey kid! Move it!" The guy in the taxi yelled, successfully snapping me out of my trance.

I made it to the subway and got on. I sat down in a space where nobody was sitting.

First I heard a ringing in my ear. It didn't help the headache that I already had, so I clutched onto my forehead, and closed my eyes. I shook my head repeadetly, trying to make everything go away. I opened my eyes and looked around. Everything became dizzy and I shut them again. I brought my legs into my chest and burried my face into my knees. It finally went away and I stayed like that until I reached my station.

I got to school and headed to my locker. I saw Zay standing there, on his phone, and I walked up to him.

"Hey."

"Sup."

I opened my locker and grabbed my 50-pound math book. I reached across my back to place the book in my bag. As I turned around, I saw Vanessa walk up the steps. She had her hand on her head, like she was nursing a headache.

"Hey, have you noticed anything weird about Vanessa lately?"

"Not really, why?" Zay said while looking up from his phone.

"I don't know. She's been really distant lately and she always has these headaches. And she looks like she hasn't been getting any sleep lately."

"I didn't really notice before, but I guess your right."

"I'm gonna go talk to her. I'll see ya in class."

"See ya."

I then walked away over to Vanessa, who was by her locker. I saw her swallow two pills with water for her headache.

"Hey princess." She set the bottle on the top self of the locker and turned around to meet my face.

"Hi." She said quietly.

"How've you been?"

"I literally just saw you yesterday."

"I know, I know. You've just looked really tired lately. Are you staying up late watching Supernatural? How many times have I told you that you can't keep doing that." She chuckled and replied with "too many."

"My minds just been racing a lot lately. I can't get it to settle down and let me sleep."

"What are you thinking about?"

"I don't know. A lot of things I guess. I have been worrying a lot about the project Mr. M assigned us."

"Why? I'm sure you'll do great on it. You always do good on his stuff."

"Yeah, I guess so. I'll be fine. Can we go to class now please." She said while closing her locker and swinging her backpack around her arm.

"Yeah, lets go." I knew she wasn't telling the truth, but I know better to push things with her. I just hope she'll tell me soon.

"Honesty..." Mr. Matthews starts off the class. Yes! Sometimes I think he reads our minds. This is the perfect lesson to get Nessa to tell me what's going on.

"Honesty is often very hard. The truth is often painful. But the freedom it can bring is worth the tying."

"That's a very nice quote and all Mr. M, but I don't understand why we're learning about honesty. Shouldn't we be working on our projects?" Vanessa asks trying to get away from this topic.

"I've extended the project date for two days. I think this lesson is really important. Don't you."

"No. We've always been honest with eachother."

"Are you sure about that?" I ask her. She turns around in her seat and looks at me.

"Excuse me?" She questions.

"He's right." Zay helps me out.

"What do you mean. I told you that I haven't been getting much sleep recently. That's not a lie."

"It may not be a lie, but it certainly isn't the whole truth."

"I'm not talking to you about this anymore."

"Why? Because you know that I'm right" She scoffs at me and turns around in her seat.

"Honesty is..."

"Mr. M, I'm sorry, but this topic doesn't have any importance. You know what does? The assignment that you gave us that is a huge chunk of our grade. I think we should work on that instead."

"Why are you being so defensive?" Maya questioned her.

"I'm not. I just want to get a good grade."

Before I could retort, Mr. Matthews did. "You know what. I think Ms. Hunter is right. Everyone get your projects out. You have the rest of the period to work." Is he serious? He's gonna give up this easily.

"Mr. Matthews," I started. He gave me a look, telling me to be quiet. With that, I got out my project and started working.
