"Hi, princess," I said after Vanessa accepted my call.
"Hi." She replied.
"How are you doing sweetheart?"
"Good, I guess."
"Please don't say yes because you think you have to. Tell me how you feel, darling." My eyes widened. I never called her that before. Where did it come from?
"Um, I don't know, " She stuttered out her response. I can't believe I just said that. She must feel so awkward right now. Now it's so obvious how much she only wants to be friends.
"Oh, um, that's- it's okay to not know how you feel, Nessa."
"Uh, yeah I guess so."
"So um..." The bell went off; signaling I have to get to class. Saved by the bell!
"I gotta get to class. Can I come over tonight?"
"Uh, I don't know. I'm kinda tired." Of course, she doesn't want me to come over. I'm such an idiot.
"Oh, well- um... I'll see you tomorrow then, love." Oh my god! What is wrong with me?!
"Uhhh- see you tomorrow." She said quickly and hung up.
I sighed and wrung my hand through my hair. " I guess it's official then. Vanessa doesn't love me."

It's official. I'm in love with Lucas.
Hearing him call me those names made something click in my brain.
"Vanessa," Dad called through my door. Ugh! Could he not need something while I'm having a life-changing revaluation?!
"Yeah, dad?" I replied.
He opened up the door. "The Matthews are coming over tonight for dinner. Is that okay?"
"Yeah. I need to get all the work I've missed from Riley, anyways."
"Actually, it's just gonna be Cory and Topanga. But, I'm sure Cory can bring over the work."
"Okay, dad." We never have dinner with the Matthews without Riley and Auggie, but I don't think about it much due to my mind being on Lucas.
