"So, you're the Silent Death."
Nakano recalls the words, trying to make sense of what that guy was referring to. She initially assumed that he was talking about someone he mistook her for, but as she stares down at the weapon in her hands, she's starting to doubt herself.
Not to mention her clothes. She knows for a fact that these don't belong to her. If they do, she doesn't remember buying them.
She's wearing a whole ass black jumpsuit, with weapons, mostly small knives and such, attached at every limb. The only accessories she recognizes are the metal arm bracers she uses for protection.
'What happened to me..?'
As she gazes into the mirror-like steel of the blade, stained with scarlet red blood, she suddenly jolts in a startled fit. Next to her reflection is another face. A pale wrinkled face, with hazel eyes that stare back into her darkened auburn ones. They express the disappointment of the person they belong to.
She drops the weapon, whipping her head around to look behind her. To her dismay, she's still alone. Glancing back at her naginata, she stares at it for a moment before picking it back up. She once again gazes into the blade, but she can no longer see him. She lets out a heavy sigh before sheathing it.
'Yeah. I'm fucking losing my mind again.'
Is this the future she's destined to have? She knows for a fact that her brother wouldn't approve, but does it even matter? She's not going to see him again anyway.
Hinata is saved, Akkun is saved, and Toman no longer exists. There's no reason for Nakano to meddle with her brother's life anymore. He's safe, and he has other people to love and take care of him.
People who can definitely do that better than her.
'This is my life now. If I try to stay with Takemichi, I'm gonna get him caught in the crossfire again.'
Whatever she's doing now, whoever she's fighting, she's not gonna get her brother involved. Whatever she does from here on out, she's doing on her own.
As she always has.
Turns out blood and death will always be her life. Even if she changed in the past, her future is still the same. She's killing people she doesn't even know, but they for sure deserved to die. After what they did to that woman and her baby... But they're both dead. She failed to save them.
Even with her enemies dead, she doesn't feel as satisfied as she would've been. Did going back to the past change her? If it did, did it make her better or worse?
Well, she can't tell for certain, but does it even matter now? If her brother is safe now, all she has to do is stay in the shadows in order to keep it that way. The question remains, who's her enemy this time?
She starts sprinting and jumping from rooftop to rooftop, trying to clear her mind. Which is an attempt failed. Nakano can't stop the images from flashing in her mind one after the other. Memories of her past, and what she had just witnessed minutes ago.
Blood and death has been her life. How come it's only now making her uncomfortable? Is it because her past replayed in front of her? As if it were an out of body experience?
