Nakano spent the rest of the night getting rid of everything that didn't belong to her. She burned her clothes, threw the ashes into the river, and threw her naginata and other weapons into a metal grinder. Where she was able to do that, she hasn't the slightest recollection. Her mind blanked for the majority of the night.
Once she was finished with that, she was left in a black t-shirt and just her underwear, so she made a journey to the place that she hoped was still there. And it was.
The rooftop of an abandoned building just on the outskirts of the city. It was just like she remembered. She came across the place while she was exploring the city when she returned to Japan. She found herself going there almost every night to gaze at the night sky, and sometimes even sleep there. When she didn't want to put up with her mother's bullshit, she went there to be alone.
And once again, she went to the familiar rooftop, and slept through the night without any disruptions.
Once dawn broke, Nakano immediately made her way to her brother's old apartment. She wasn't sure if he still lives there, but she thought to give it a try. At first she tried to call him, but she didn't have her phone. She crushed it along with all her other weapons thinking it had a tracker on it.
She was really on edge that night.
Upon arrival at her brother's apartment, she nervously walks up the stairs, and towards his room door. As she does, her twin intuition suddenly spikes. She feels a familiar presence, which causes relief to wash over her.
The door creaks open, and a head pokes out. The familiar blue-grey eyes stare at her, wide eyed before the person who owns them opens the door wide enough for her to see him completely.
Her twin says nothing, but steps aside to let her in. He shuts the door, and almost immediately wraps his arms around her, crushing her in his despair. Nakano lets out a grunt, but returns the embrace and pats his back.
"I'm glad you're safe."
She hears sniffling as her brother's tears and snot soak into her black hoodie. She doesn't blame him for being in a state of depression. After what happened last night, of course the trauma is going to creep up on him.
"Nakano... Hina is... She-"
"I know, brother. I'm so sorry."
Her voice holds genuine concern, as she rubs her little brother's back. Takemichi lifts his head from her shoulder, and gives her a confused look.
"Wait, but- How did you know?"
"... I saw it."
The room goes silent for a moment, before Nakano leads her brother to his bed. She sits him down, before she leans against the wall next to him.
"I didn't see all of it but... I saw the explosions, and the fire, and you."
Nakano looks towards Takemichi, who has his head hung. She knows that he's going through a lot, but she admires his motivation to push through it all. It almost makes her envy him. He has the kind of strength that she lacks.
"So... You just stood and watched?"
The black haired twin is suddenly taken aback by that remark. "I only saw the aftermath of it all and you walking away. I didn't think you'd want to see me after what happened."
There's a pause, but Takemichi glances at her. "Where were you last night then? How did you end up at the park?"
Nakano's eyes darken, as she stares at the wall across from her. "Do you really want to know."
