I couldn't sleep that night. Jake decided to stay, to give me company, but I barley talked to him. I didn't have any courage to speak. About anything.
Jake turned to the digital clock placed on my bedside table.

"You can go if you want Jake. I can't talk or anything." My voice quivered.
"You don't need to talk. You don't bore me."
He planted a small, gentle kiss on the top of my head, and the heat of his lips spread from my hair to my body. I shivered at the touch. Ironic, I know. But the cold feeling wouldn't go away.
When Jake saw me shudder, he pulled the covers up to my shoulders and tucked me into bed.
"I can't sleep Jake."
"I'm here, don't worry."

That night I dreamt about Rose. Rose coming back. In the dream, I heard a knock on the door, and she was stood there, but bruised and knackered. But I was so relieved we had found her, I didn't exactly care about the nicks and nacks. I gave her a huge hug and I opened my eyes. Instead of Rose in my arms, it was Jake. He was sound asleep, his chest, which my head was leaning on, slowly moved up and down, and soon, my heart beat slowed down to his rate so we were travelling at the same pace. I nudged my head to a more comfortable place on his chest, but that was enough to wake him.
"Hey beautiful, what's up?"
"Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you."
"It's fine, I wasn't too sleepy anyways."
I nodded and closed my eyes again.

Today was the day. The day we found out about Rose. I got out of my warm bed, and so did Jake. I was so happy he gave me company all through the night. I guess I really needed it.
I turned around to see Jake in a tight top and rough jeans, scratching the back of his neck.
"Oh my god! I didn't even realise you didn't have any pyjamas to wear!"
"Oh it's fine done worry Val."
"No you must've been so uncomfortable and I didn't even have the curtesy to-"
Before I could finish, he pressed his soft lips against mine, so a few seconds to hush me. I closed my eyes and kissed him back. He pulled away and said,
"I love you"
I breathed heavily to the words, even though I had heard them before.
"I love you too"
